VIDEO/PHOTOS AND GIVEAWAY: Preview into ‘Orphan Black’: Season 3, Episode 4 “Newer Elements of our Defense”

May 9, 2015 By T.J. Leave a Comment

Project Leda and Project Castor created more than just clones, they created siblings. Season 3, episode 4 “Newer Elements of our Defense” of Orphan Black is going to reveal some interesting plot twists. Let’s get a preview into the tonight’s episode airing on BBC America at 9PM ET/PT.

We’re still on a high from the news that BBC America released on Thursday, May 7, 2015, that Orphan Black was renewed for a fourth season. This was glorious information to find out especially coming off the amazing season 3, episode 3 “Formalized, Complex, and Costly”, where were found out that the Leda sisters and Castor brothers were actually siblings.

This information was obtained when Cosima (Tatiana Maslany) and Scott (Josh Vokey) took on the task of dismantling Seth’s (Ari Millen) dead body in Felix’s (Jordan Gavaris) bathtub, after he was killed by his Castor brother Rudy. Sarah attempted to use this information as a bargaining chip for her life when she was being held at gunpoint by Mark. Sarah and Mark met-up when they both went to retrieve information that Henrik Johanssen, former leader of the Prolethean’s, left for safe keeping. Mark rejected the news and stormed off only to be gunned down by Gracie’s (Zoé De Grand Maison) mother Bonnie (Kristin Booth). Bonnie was not a happy camper when she learned the whereabouts of her runaway daughter, who is carrying Henrik and Helena’s child.

Helena in Orphan Black, “Formalized, Complex, and Costly”, is still being held captive by Castor and finds out that Paul (Dylan Bruce) is working with the Castor clones. She let’s him know of her disgust and ultimate plans to kill him in the near future. Helena also gets her eat on when she has a meeting with Dr. Coady (Kyra Harper) and learns the reason why she was taken: they want the original clone DNA.

Meanwhile, Alison and Donnie (Kristian Bruun) embark on their suburban drug dealing business. In an attempt to ensure victory for Alison in her bid for School Trustee, they recruit votes from the soccer moms who used to buy drugs from Ramon. Business is looking great, but how long will that last?!

The highlights for me in “Formalized, Complex, and Costly”, was seeing Sarah and Detective Bell (Kevin Hanchard) work together to track down some leads on Mark. While working together they meet up with ousted Prolethean member Alexis. Alexis is portrayed by Kathryn Alexandre, who is the body double for Tatiana Maslany. As we constantly are in awe of the performances we witness from Maslany, we must be aware that without Alexandre this show would not work. Both of these women help ensure the scenes with multiple Leda sisters come off as perfectly as they do. Learn more about Alexandre here.

Tonight on Orphan Black, season 3, episode 4 “Newer Elements of our Defense” where Justin Chatwin guest stars:

Mark is taken down in a Prolethean shoot-out and Sarah must step in to help. But as Sarah gathers intel that puts her on the trail of the original Castor DNA, a familiar foe is not far behind.  While Helena continues to toil in a faraway military compound, it is ultimately Sarah’s fate that will hang in the balance as she tries to save her sister. Meanwhile, Gracie is cast out from the Prolethean fold, and Alison and Donnie come face-to-face with unhappy drug lord, Jason Kellerman. (via BBC America)

We been blessed with nothing but greatness from season 3 of Orphan Black and “Newer Elements of our Defense” will continue to bring on some interesting twists. Looking at the below trailer for tonight’s episode I wonder will we meet another Castor clone tonight or was one of the brothers we already met a bad, bad boy that caused him to end up in this predicament.
