VIDEO: Sneak Peek of Tonight’s ‘The Originals’ Season 2, Episode 20 “City Beneath the Sea”

April 27, 2015 By Funmbi Leave a Comment

Now that Klaus is out of commission, how will the other Mikaelsons stop Dahlia? Preview tonight’s The Originals “City Beneath the Sea”, airing at 8:00pm ET|PT on The CW.

Last week’s The Originals (“When the Levee Breaks“) picked up with Klaus (Joseph Morgan) trying to make amends to his siblings with brunch and mimosas. Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Rebekah (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) weren’t too happy with their brother’s imperiousness. By killing Mikael (Sebastian Roché) they’d alienated Freya (Riley Voelkel), who they needed to defeat Dahlia (Claudia Black). Dahlia, inhabiting Miss Josephine’s (Meg Foster) body interrupted to bring a message—she meant to have Hope by the next night. Of course, Klaus didn’t take kindly to the message and removed Josephine’s head.

When Rebekah went to Freya to apologize for Klaus’ actions, Freya gave her siblings an ultimatum…either Klaus or her. Meanwhile, Elijah tried to get Klaus to share his plan for protecting Hope, but he refused. He would only let Elijah into his circle if his older brother forsook Freya. So the Milkaelsons were caught between a rock and a hard place. Elijah tried to convince both Klaus and Freya that family should come before their bickering. While Freya might have been sympathetic, Klaus refused to budge.

While Klaus spent his time painting, Cami (Leah Pipes) came to see him. They spent the day together talking about his distrust of Freya, his betrayal and murder of Mikael, and how he wasn’t really that great of a person.

At the safe house, Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) and Jackson (Nathan Parsons) tried to figure out the next move. Should they take Hope and run? Since Dahlia was drawn to Hope’s magic, they needed a way to hex her from practicing in the first place. However, Dahlia found the safe house first, killed the guards, and called for Hope with that creepy whistling tune. Dahlia didn’t go inside (her magic would be neutralized), but she chatted with Hayley…Hope was rightfully hers. Rather than fight, Hayley should spend the remaining hours saying goodbye to Hope because afterwards, she’d have no knowledge of her mother.

Hayley decided that she, Hope, Jackson, and the wolves would go to the bayou, irrespective of what Klaus wanted. Plus Davina (Danielle Campbell) had made them a necklace that would prevent Hope’s use of magic while she wore it.

Aiden (Colin Woodell) was feeling immense guilt about betraying Jackson/Hayley to Klaus. After confessing to Jackson and apologizing, Aiden declared his love to Josh (Steven Krueger) and the planned to leave town together. As he bought flowers and prepared to meet Josh, Dahlia killed Aiden and ripped out his heart…as Klaus would have done. 🙁

Everyone was very concerned about Klaus going off the rails…especially since he admitted to killing Aiden (part of his twisted plan to keep the others afraid of him)! To defeat Dahlia, they couldn’t worry about Klaus too. So, using the dagger Kaleb/Kol made, Elijah stabbed Klaus in the heart…for Hope. And it was pretty clear that if/when Klaus awoke, there would be hell to pay.

In tonight’s episode “City Beneath the Sea” written by Carina Adly MacKenzie and Charlie Charbonneau, directed by Leslie Libman, and with returning guest-star Claudia Black as Dahlia:

LOOMING DEADLINES AND ENTICING PROPOSITIONS—When Dahlia devises a clever way to get Klaus’ attention, she reveals some startling details about baby Hope and leaves him with an enticing proposition to consider. Elsewhere, while Elijah and Freya find themselves with opposing views on how best to handle Dahlia’s looming deadline, Rebekah, Davina, and Cami work together to come up with their own strategy. Meanwhile, following a tense stand-off between Elijah and Jackson in the bayou, Hayley is left to make a difficult decision about her and Hope’s future. Finally, Vincent, who is eager to leave his witch past behind him, approaches Davina with an offer that leaves her intrigued. (via The CW)

Our favorite Producers Julie Plec and Michael Narducci take us inside this week’s episode Elijah and Freya are trying to figure out how to lure and kill Dahlia…perhaps using Baby Hope as bait. And while we thought Klaus was out of commission due to the dagger in his heart, Auntie Dahlia is able to worm her way into his head:

Interesting…Auntie Dahlia might not be the evil witch we’ve been regarding her as…maybe!
Take a look at this clip from “City Beneath the Sea” with Marcel bringing Rebekah to St. James Infirmary for her safety and those linked to her:

Marcel/Rebekah moments always make me smile…but seriously, where do we go from here because no matter what sob story Dahlia tells, we can’t let her have Hope!
