Watch a new alternate scene from Outlander episode 107 “The Wedding,” one of the bonus features on the Outlander: Season 1, Volume 1 DVD/Blu-ray box set, available March 3.
Though we’re about six and a half week from Outlander‘s return to STARZ, we’re much closer to being able to have our very own copies of season 1A on DVD/Blu-ray (March 3)! The episodes are already available via Digital HD, as Caitriona Balfe lovingly reminded us of last week on Valentine’s Day. But, as we’ve reported, the Outlander: Season 1, Volume 1 DVD/Blu-ray will have tons of bonus content, including six behind-the-scenes featurettes and 21 deleted scenes.
Well to help get us excited, earlier today People shared one of those deleted/extended scenes. In the video (which you can watch below), Executive Producer Ron Moore introduces the clip, which is from episode 107 “The Wedding.” It provides an alternate view of how Jamie and Claire’s wedding night unfolds: we get to see more of what Ron calls the “storytelling sequence.”
In the scene, both Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) spend hours talking about sharing stories about their families. Jamie talks about how his parents met at Castle Leoch’s last Gathering and when he lost his mother. Claire also talks about losing her parents in a car(riage) accident. The clip ends with Claire flashing back/forward to her wedding to Frank (Tobias Menzies) in London (which is actually how the episode begins in the version that aired):
“You’re a Fraser now, Sassenach. You must learn to tell a story and to listen to one. You must be patient!”
*SWOONS* Sam and Cait are so perfect as Jamie and Claire, don’t you think?
I actually really like how the episode unfolds in the version that aired—I like that we hear Jamie’s stories in a montage and that we begin with Claire’s first wedding to Frank. With that said, I’ll ALWAYS want extended/deleted/bonus scenes like this one. And it’s great that those stories were drawn directly from the book.
