Earlier this month, we reported that George Clooney would be having some Christmas fun at Downton Abbey. He filmed a special short with the Downton cast for ITV’s “Text Santa” charity campaign, which raises money for the Alzheimer’s Society, Guide Dogs, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Teenage Cancer Trust, Together for Short Lives, and WellChild.
The full sketch aired in the UK this past Friday. But, just as we hoped, ITV has generously made the video available on their YouTube page for Downton fans across the world to enjoy! In addition to George, Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous) and Jeremy Piven (Mr. Selfridge) also guest-starred in the special.
The nine minute parody was a take on It’s A Wonderful Life and is available for you to watch below:
It’s Christmas at Downton and Lord Robert Crawley (Hugh Bonneville) seems to be facing financial ruin once again. He’s beginning to wonder if his family may be better off without him but divine intervention in the form of a very special heavenly body gives him a view of what life would really be like without his guiding spirit. That was so hilarious! And George Oceans Gravity, Marquess of Hollywood (LOL!) didn’t seem to be that effective of an Earl. Upstairs and downstairs were both in disarray and Lord Grantham was certainly scandalized. With that said, Lord Hollywood had all the ladies and some of the men swooning *cough*Branson and Thomas*cough* And Dowager Countess swooned right off the couch!
I think my favorite parts were Lady Mary’s allusion to Matthew’s car accident (still makes me emotional), Molesley’s “I love Baxter” tattoo, and the epic selfie.
