PREVIEW: ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 8, Episode 14 “Still Gotta Mean Something”

March 30, 2018 By Katie Leave a Comment

As Team Family recovers from the devastating attack on Hilltop, they search for answers about what’s to come. Meanwhile, Negan finds himself in a jam. Here’s the preview for “Still Gotta Mean Something.”

Things look pretty quiet on this episode of The Walking Dead as the final battle looms on the horizon. So what can we expect from “Still Gotta Mean Something”?

Ezekiel will attempt to search for Henry who has pulled both a Carl AND a Sophia. He’s quite the little troublemaker. I can only hope that this won’t end the way it did for Sophia, Carl, or Morgan’s son, Duane. The last thing these people need is another loss like that. It will be curious to see why Carol goes with Morgan (searching for Saviors?) into the woods and not Ezekiel, who tried to coax her out in the exclusive teaser that aired on The Talking Dead last Sunday.

Also during this episode, Morgan will team up with Rick to run down the Saviors that got away. I assume Carol will also be on that trip based on the stills below. Since Lennie James will be departing The Walking Dead at the end of this season, it makes sense that his character is coming full circle and having quality time with Rick before they part ways again.

For eagle eye fans, you’ll notice Rick is wearing his murder clothes, aka his Terminus/biting Joe’s throat out jacket. So, he’s obviously looking to rack up some serious numbers when it comes to taking out Saviors. I don’t fall in line with the thinking that Rick is going to go feral any time soon, though. He’s been talking a big game lately, and so far the only person to have Negan in any bind has been Jadis…

No doubt we’ll be seeing these two this episode, and she’ll probably describe to him what his Saviors did to her people. Can you imagine how pissed Negan will be at Simon over this? How Negan gets away is up in the air, but Jadis has made her own Lucille it appears.

Another problem looking to be solved soon is the bullet issue. Hilltop has used up nearly all their ammo and Daryl think the Saviors are running low, too. He suggest fighting them hand-to-hand, but Rosita reminds him that they have a bullet maker. This episode will see Daryl and Rosita going to Eugene’s outpost, and maybe getting him and Gabriel back? Or destroying something to prevent the bullets from being manufactured in the first place. We’ll see.

And in a quiet moment that relates to the title, “Still Gotta Mean Something”, it looks like Michonne will read her letter from Carl. His words will be a reminder throughout this remaining episodes that no matter what happens, this all must mean something in the end. Their lives must be more that running or killing. At some point, they’ll all need to find peace.

It also calls back to comments Beth Greene made to Daryl in season 4. In the episode “Still”, Beth yells at Daryl that he needs to “stop pretending that none of it matters. That they people they lost don’t matter.”

The episode title could foreshadow a Daryl like breakdown for characters who are getting through a major loss.

You can check out the clips and stills below, and get ready for a filler, lay the groundwork episode for the final jump into “All Out War”.
