PREVIEW: ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 8, Episode 13 “Do Not Send Us Astray”

With a ray of hope given last week, the group must face the Saviors in order to protect their future. Here’s our preview for “Do Not Send Us Astray”!

“Winning just means we get tomorrow. Maybe tonight. There are no guarantees.”

These are words of wisdom from Carol as we enter episode thirteen, “Do Not Send Us Astray”. Everyone is currently at all Hilltop, and with the plans from Georgie, could actually make Carl’s vision come true, but a final battle with the Saviors stands in the way.

Simon leads a charge toward Hilltop that has a double agent Dwight riding shotgun. Negan is at the mercy of Jadis and may end up in a shipping container in his boxers while she paints him. That’d be really funny in my opinion, but it looks like he’ll eventually give her the slip and make it back to his Saviors.

The true MVP of this preview post is Maggie. She hasn’t had too much screen time this season, but it sure looks like the writers are putting her in prime position to take over as leader and giving her character a much needed boost. It would be a shame if they lost Lauren Cohen for season nine due to a salary dispute.

So, for “Do Not Send Us Astray” look for the Saviors arriving at Hilltop and they have no intention of saving anyone. Maggie taking the reins as leader. Carol probably having a heart-to-heart with Henry which brings me to the title…

“Do Not Send Us Astray” has a very biblical feel to it, so it would make sense if something involved Gabriel, but honestly, I think it’s partly about the Saviors. You have both Simon and Dwight at the helm right now, and Dwight will purposely try and sabotaged this mission for them. This could be a call for their lead “Savior” not to send them in the wrong direction or even Simon leading them away from Negan by leaving him to die.

Additionally, it feels like this one will continue to play on the notion of the next generation of kids. Send is a verb in this title, so it’s suggesting that if the adults do tell them to do something, don’t make them do it and have them falter in what their morality should be. The writers are pressuring the adult characters to take a harder look at their choices in regard to children.

I definitely think the writers are looking at the show from multiple angles so it could be all of these things or none of them and I’m just chasing rabbits.

You can take a look at the clips and stills below to prepare for tomorrow’s episode, and then tell us what you think about the title!
