PREVIEW: ‘Outlander’ Season 3, Episode 3 “All Debts Paid”

September 22, 2017 By Funmbi Leave a Comment

While Jamie is in prison, he takes on a leadership role among the inmates. And in Boston, Claire’s years-long detente with Frank is unsettled. Get a sneak peek of this week’s Outlander, “All Debts Paid.”

By the end of last week’s Outlander (“Surrender”), through the haze of heartbreak, a few things become so evident. Claire and Jamie need each other so much and are really suffering through their separation. The process of trying to cope without one another takes years and might not be that successful. Yet, the two of them are able to find meaning. For Jamie, it’s sacrificing himself so that his family can live with additional funds and without the constant shadow of threat from the Red Coats seeking him out. And (after her relationship with Frank completely deteriorates), Claire invests in her daughter and in herself by going to medical school.

For more insight, make sure you watch the post-episode featurette with Showrunner Ronald D. Moore and Executive Producers Toni Graphia and Matthew B. Roberts, where they discuss how Jamie’s and Claire’s experiences really do parallel each other:

*SIGH* Six years into a 20 year separation, and this week’s Outlander and I know we want the reunion. At the same time, I want to honor the lives Claire and Jamie are able to build for themselves.

For more, check out my full recap of “Surrender” HERE, plus our the video review of the episode on our YouTube channel where Katie and I talk about Jamie/Fergus, Jamie/Jenny, Claire/Frank, terrible Red Coats, and more!

In Sunday’s episode “All Debts Paid” (written by Matthew B. Roberts, directed by Brendan Maher):

In prison, Jamie discovers that an old foe has become the warden – and now has the power to make his life a living hell. Over the years, Claire and Frank both put their best foot forward to share a harmonious marriage, but an uninvited guest shatters this illusion, bringing their differences to light. (via STARZ)

Take a look at a clip from “All Debts Paid” where we get our first glimpse of Jamie in Ardsmuir Prison through the lens of the new governor, Lord John Grey:

See five images from “All Debts Paid” and remember to tune in to STARZ this Sunday, September 24 at 8p/7c for the new Outlander. Make sure to live tweet with me on Twitter too!
