PICS: Sneak Peek into ‘State of Affairs’ S1, E2

November 24, 2014 By T.J. 5 Comments

Get a sneak peek into State of Affairs, season 1, episode 2, “Secret and Lies” airing tonight on NBC at 10 PM ET/PT.
Monday, November 17, 2014 at 10 PM State of Affairs premiered and I loved it, as did many critics, but Twitter wasn’t as kind. Many weren’t fans of Katherine Heigl’s performance and I couldn’t see why. Heigl was able to convince me that her character, Charleston Tucker (Katherine Heigl) could be a bit of a hot mess when not at work, but when she was she was at the top of her game. So I wondered is it her performance in this current role or her past and questioned that on Twitter:

Wondering if an actresses past sins will allow her to have success on a new project even after she’s admitted her mistakes.

Episode 101 of State of Affairs was entertaining and the dynamic between Charleston Tucker and President Constance Payton (Alfre Woodard) makes me want mini-episodes based solely on their relationship. Plus seeing a Black woman President of the United States for me as a Black woman was empowering. Don’t let anyone tell you that diverse representation doesn’t matter, because even at my age I was moved to see this, even if it was fictional character. Also, I look forward to learning more about the rest of the characters (Adam Kaufman as Lucas Newsome, Sheila Vand as Maureen James, Cliff Chamberlain as Kurt Tannen, Tommy Savas as Dashiell Greer, and David Harbour as David Patrick) on State of Affairs.

Tonight on episode 201, “Secret and Lies,”

Charleston (Katherine Heigl) and the team are in a race against the Russians over a stranded Russian submarine holding six months of stolen U.S. secrets — their one advantage is that they have a CIA asset on board. At the same time, the texter persists, sending Charlie a damning picture, while Nick (guest star Chris L. McKenna) forces her to question if Fatah was ever really her asset. Meanwhile, President Payton (Alfre Woodard) appoints a new CIA director, the formidable Ray Navarro (guest star Nestor Carbonell). Also, guest starring Courtney B. Vance, James Remar, and Alon Moni Aboutboul. (via NBC)

Check out the promotional stills from “Secret and Lies,” based on these images and the synopsis supplied by NBC it looks like there will be plenty of tense moments:
