‘Outlander’ Season 3 Teaser Shows Jamie & Claire During Separation

April 17, 2017 By Funmbi Leave a Comment

Outlander Season 3 promises heartache, but there’s hope too. Let’s talk about the first teaser trailer!

***SPOILERS***

Sassenachs, as promised STARZ delivered the first Outlander Season 3 teaser just before the premiere episode of The White Princess.

Did you watch live? Just as the word “teaser” connotes, it was short and JUICY!

The 40 second clip was really a montage of Jamie and Claire’s lives apart, post-Culloden. After Jamie delivers Claire to Craigh na Dun (as seen in Season 2’s finale “Dragonfly in Amber“), we see him fighting on the battlefield and then waking up much later to the resulting carnage. Afterwards, we get a brief glimpse of Jamie at Lallybroch, another scene of him walking through the heather (perhaps during his time in hiding from the English authorities). For me, one of the clearest moment is at 0:29 when Jamie shoots a man (this is very likely Jamie killing the Earl of Ellesmere in order to save baby William… that’s all I’ll say about that for now *SIGH*).

This is interspersed with images of Claire’s life with Frank and Bree. We see Bree’s birthday and graduation. We also see Claire in her position as a doctor (at 0:19, we see Claire with her friend and colleague Joe Abernathy; at 0:28, Claire is in her scrubs running, perhaps after Frank’s accident?).

And in the background, Jamie recites one of my favorite quotes: “I have lied, killed, and broken trust. But when I stand before God, I’ll have one thing to say to weigh against all the rest. Lord, you gave me a rare woman. And God, I loved her well.” (*WEEPING*)

Thanks to our friends at STARZ we have the video to share, which you can watch (and re-watch!) below:

OK, to me, this first teaser is a signal that we need to start preparing ourselves. Much of this season is going to feature how Claire and Jamie spend 20 years apart and it is going to hurt. From Jamie’s time in prison to his relationships with other women… and Claire’s struggle to find fulfillment in Bree and in her work, but her marriage to Frank becoming quite toxic.

But the last moment of the trailer when Jamie promises to find Claire… this is the hope that we have to cling to. And we will!

What did you think of the trailer? Share your thoughts in comments! And here’s hoping that the next trailer is longer and gives us some Jamie/Claire reunion scenes!

Remember, Outlander returns this September. Stay tuned to We So Nerdy for all your Outlander news!

About Outlander Season 3

The story picks up right after Claire travels through the stones to return to her life in 1948. Now pregnant, she struggles with the fallout of her sudden reappearance and its effect on her marriage to her first husband, Frank. Meanwhile, in the 18th century, Jamie suffers from the aftermath of his doomed last stand at the historic battle of Culloden, as well as the loss of Claire. As the years pass, Jamie and Claire attempt to make a life apart from one another, each haunted by the memory of their lost love. The budding possibility that Claire can return to Jamie in the past breathes new hope into Claire’s heart… as well as new doubt. Separated by continents and centuries, Claire and Jamie must find their way back to each other. As always, adversity, mystery, and adventure await them on the path to reunion. And the question remains: when they find each other, will they be the same people who parted at the standing stones, all those years ago?

Book Three is set to premiere in September 2017 and will include 13 episodes based upon the third of eight books in Diana Gabaldon’s international best-selling Outlander series, entitled Voyager. Production and filming on the third season continues in Cape Town, South Africa.
