John is off to 1918 Paris to meet is son and Wells is right on his heels. Get a sneak peek of tonight’s Time After Time.
Last week’s Time After Time might have been titled “Secrets Stolen“, but there were some pretty major secrets revealed too!
The episode picked up with Brooke, a neuropathologist, holding John Stevenson/Jack the Ripper hostage. She knew all about John, Wells, and time machine. Brooke was engaging in biotechnology research and gene therapy, and in exchange for testing his brain, she promised to get John the time machine. Maybe she could even help John change his impulse to kill… In any event, she revealed some shocking news to John that he had a son, Henry Ayers, who died in 1918.
Elsewhere, Wells tried to figure out John’s next move. Chad Holland dead and Wells worried that he got to John since he didn’t call with his ultimatum for the time machine’s key.
Wells and Jane ended up going to Chad’s apartment and saw his collection of photos and articles from stalking Wells and John. Through their snooping, they found a paper with coordinates in Long Island and a date (September 15, 1980), all with the same emblem on the letter future H.G. wrote to himself and entrusted with Vanessa.
What did this mean? A trip to 1980 revealed another dark secret. The coordinates were for Vanessa’s childhood home where her parents Courtney and David Anders were hosting a party. Vanessa was only 3 at the time. Wells and Jane came upon a heated argument between Chad Holland’s father, Robert, and David Anders about drug research (Project Utopia). They got into a fight over money, and David ended up killing Robert. David realized Wells and Jane saw the whole thinking, but they were able to escape with the time machine just in time.
Back in 2017, Wells and Jane decided not to tell Vanessa the truth about her father killing Robert Holland. However, they did mention Project Utopia, and Vanessa promised to look into it.
Meanwhile, Vanessa was hosting a fundraiser for her boyfriend Griffin, who was now way too interested in Wells and the time machine. It was at this time we also learned that Brooke was Griffin’s sister, and apparently Project Utopia was their father’s research that Robert Holland stole to give to David Anders!
Unfortunately, things went pear-shaped with John (who had escaped from Brooke’s lab earlier) broke into Vanessa’s home. He followed Griffin into the locked room with the time machine. Griffin tried to fight John, but it was too late. John got to the time machine and took off as Wells, Jane, and Vanessa watched. Wells was able to call it back and learned that Jack went to Paris on March 30, 1918. Why? To meet his son before Henry died!
In other developments, Wells and Jane’s kisses still give me life!
