*SPOILERS AHEAD*

Sassenachs, the Outlander casting news keeps coming, and I couldn’t be happier!

A couple weeks ago when we learned John Bell and Wil Johnson were cast as Wee Ian and Dr. Joe Abernathy (respectively), I speculated that we’d likely be learning about other fan-favorites like adult-Fergus and Marsali Fraser soon too.

Well, here we are!

Earlier today STARZ revealed that actor César Domboy (The Walk) will join Season 3 as an older version of Fergus, the beloved French pickpocket that Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) adopt while in Paris. Lauren Lyle has also been cast as Marsali, who is one of Laoghaire’s (Nell Hudson) young daughters.

If you’ll recall, Fergus was born in a brothel, but grows up into a charming, devilishly handsome man with a strong sense of loyalty and decorum, despite his unconventional upbringing. He is the ultimate romantic, wearing his heart on his sleeve and falling in and out of love easily. However, Fergus’ devotion to Jamie has never wavered, making the Frenchman an integral part of the Fraser clan. Still, his debonair demeanor masks a longing for a lasting love and a permanent sense of belonging.

Marsali is Laoghaire’s 18 year old daughter. Like her mother (who we first meet in Season 1 when her youthful crush on Jamie Fraser was halted by his marriage to Claire), Marsali is blonde, rebellious, and romantic. She knows what she wants and she goes after it–reputation and propriety be damned.

It’s really interesting that these two characters have been cast, which might indicate that filming of Claire and Jamie’s reunion and eventual trip to the Americas might be in the planning and production phases. Fergus and Marsali make this trip with Jamie and Claire and become invaluable members of the Fraser family.

For a first look at Season 3, make sure to check out Entertainment Weekly‘s exclusive of the Battle of Culloden filming. I’m so torn because of course I want to finally know what happens to Jamie at Culloden… at the same time, I’m so scared of the carnage. *SIGH* What do you think?

See below for more information about César Domboy, Lauren Lyle, and Outlander Season 3.

And remember that right now we’re hosting a giveaway for our 2-year Blogiversary where you could win an Outlander prizepack with a Season 2 blu-ray and Claire and Jamie Funko pop!s. Go HERE to enter now!

About César Domboy

César Domboy, 26, has been working successfully in film, television and theatre in France for years with a leading role in Bertrand Travernier’s “La princesse de Montpensier” and recently playing Jean Dujardin’s son in Laurent Tirard’s “Un Homme a la Hauteur.” His roles working in English include Robert Zemeckis’ The Walk and working in season two of “The Borgias.” He will next appear in Christian Duguay’s Un Sac de Billes.

About Lauren Lyle

Lauren Lyle was part of the National Youth Theatre REP company in 2015 and is building great experience in theatre and TV. She played Diane in Evan Placey’s “Consensual” at the Ambassadors Theatre and has appeared on TV in “Broken,” “Holby City,” and “Radges.” She will next appear in Jimmy McGovern’s “Broken” for BBC One.

About Outlander Season 3

Outlander “Book Three” will be based on the third of eight books in the Outlander series, entitled Voyager.
The story picks up right after Claire travels through the stones to return to her life in 1948. Now pregnant, she struggles with the fallout of her sudden reappearance and its effect on her marriage to her first husband, Frank. Meanwhile, in the 18th century, Jamie suffers from the aftermath of his doomed last stand at the historic battle of Culloden, as well as the loss of Claire. As the years pass, Jamie and Claire attempt to make a life apart from one another, each haunted by the memory of their lost love. The budding possibility that Claire can return to Jamie in the past breathes new hope into Claire’s heart… as well as new doubt. Separated by continents and centuries, Claire and Jamie must find their way back to each other. As always, adversity, mystery, and adventure await them on the path to reunion. And the question remains: when they find each other, will they be the same people who parted at the standing stones, all those years ago?
