Tom Kirkman begins his first day at POTUS and conflict arises as he tries to find the culprits of the Capitol attack. Watch a sneak peek of tonight’s Designated Survivor (“The First Day”).
Last week’s Designated Survivor pilot was so good! I really liked that we were able to go back in time by 15 hours and see that Tom Kirkman was actually just fired as Secretary of HUD (Housing and Urban Development). However, by chance or by design, he ended being chosen as the designated survivor during the State of the Union address… and he’s now POTUS!
You could tell that Kirkman was overwhelmed… I mean, who wouldn’t be? But it’s also clear that he’s a man of conviction.
POTUS Kirkman stands up to the military leadership that wants to press for immediate conflict. He also seems to earn at least a little respect of those who doubt his legitimacy (i.e. Seth Wright, the presidential speech writer).
At the same time, there’s some underlying plan in motion to remove Kirkman as president and install… a military leader?
Of course there’s the bigger question about who is behind the attack, especially since the FBI is speculating that more violence is coming. YIKES!

Kirkman is certainly dealing with A LOT of pressure and there’s lots of reason to be concerned.
Watch two clips from the upcoming show. According to some evidence, a group or individual called Al-Sikar (sp?) is behind the attack.
In the PEOC, military leadership wants Kirkman to publically name this group as responsible, yet he refuses to do so until the FBI is 100% sure.
And within the FBI Hannah Wells (Maggie Q) also expresses her doubts to her superior, Jason Atwood (Malik Yoba):
