Thoughts I Had While Watching, ‘Outlander’, “Dragonfly in Amber”

July 12, 2016 By Katie Leave a Comment

Dragonfly in Amber showed us how Jamie and Claire parted ways and offered hope for their reunion. Here are thoughts I had while watching finale…

Here it is! The Outlander Season Two finale, Dragonfly in Amber! I’ve been anxiously awaiting this episode, hoping to get a peek into the future as well as what happened on Culloden Moor. The past and present fuse together in this episode to give us a full circle and hope for the future…it has been twenty years, though.

Here are many, many thoughts I had while watching, Dragonfly in Amber…

Looks like we’re back in the future! 1968. Wow. Twenty years.

via GIPHY

Roger isn’t unfortunate looking…

CLAIRE! THAT HAIR.

And there’s Bree! I need Jamie to see his daughter so badly.

“Are you Roger Wakefield?”

“Yes. Definitely. That’s me.”

via GIPHY

Seeing Claire this way is sooooo weird.

And Frank has died. WELP…

Claire’s a surgeon. That’s amazing!

“So many things are the same and yet so different.”

Now that Frank is gone, you can find out about Jamie! (I’m callous. Sue me.)

She’s still wearing Jamie’s ring!

via GIPHY

Just stay the night and find out about Jamie.

Rare editions, you say? Show us, Roger.

ROGER MACKENZIE.

We know all about the Mackenzies. And he said he lost family in Culloden…

Oh, Roger with the hard hitting questions.

“Whether you want to say goodbye or not, they’re gone and you have to go on living without them. Because that’s what they’d want.”

“God. You are so like him.” Her looking at Bree and it fading to Jamie. MY HEART.

1746

Charles, you’re a freaking coward.

Jamie isn’t Thomas and YOU’RE NOT JESUS.

via GIPHY

Culloden is happening.

1968

Roger, where are you taking Bree?

Fort William.

WOW. Her dad was there. She’s there where her dad was and I’m soooo heartbroken.

Roger is working hard here…LOL I’m here for this. Make it happen, Starz.

Frank was a snappy dresser. I DIE.

via GIPHY

Talking about Frank’s kindness at the same place BJR whipped her father?? GAWD.

Claire’s glasses are on point. JS.

She went back to Lallybroch **tears**

Jamie there in the gate. This hurts.

via GIPHY

1746

She wants you to kill Charles! Okay. Let’s do this!

Oh. No. Jamie it isn’t the time to worry about Colum’s soul.

I’m all about Claire poisoning Charles. JS.

1968

Bree is trying to dig for answers about Claire’s past!

What did the letter say, Bree? And Rev. Wakefield left a journal behind?

Yes, kids, find out the truth.

I still think it was Jamie that Frank saw by that statue in the first episode of the series…

http://fponthedl.tumblr.com/post/100906227606/outlandian-frank-meets-jamies-ghost

She traced the title for Lallybroch. Wow. That’s dated before Culloden, but I don’t remember that happening…

Claire has your number, Bree.

She’s been to Fort William before, sweetheart.

“Places you and daddy have been before?”

“Some.”

Oh dear.

She wants to know if Claire loved Frank…well…

1746

The troops are falling into line, Jamie. Y’all can’t wait.

Dougal is pissed.

via GIPHY

1968

Have Bree and Claire just decided to stay indefinitely in Scotland. I mean, I get it. I DO.

That’s Geillis! I KNOW that voice!

**SCREAMS** OH MY GAWD!!

She’s a Jacobite supporter?

via GIPHY

That’s why she went back in time? To ensure they won?

Well, this is awkward…

Bonnie Prince Charlie was a horrible person, btw.

Bree is challenging Geillis. This is the best!

Claire is bringing Charles Stuart down…LOL

He wasn’t that tall.

“They’ve taken a fool and turned him into a hero.”

via GIPHY

1746

Dougal is about to ruin everything.

Oh my god. He’s losing it. He’s going to try and kill Jamie.

Wow. Dougal just said some really crude, detailed things, didn’t he?

Don’t bite, Dougal! That’s just rude.

Jamie & Claire killed Dougal. I wasn’t ready for this. I WASNT READY.

via GIPHY

1968

All this time jumping isn’t giving me an opportunity to cope.

How can anyone not like Roger? After the rat singing, I’m totally sold.

That’s a very old piece of paper.

Great. Now we get to know BJR some more. When did he die, though? That’s what I need to know.

“He’s not the man I thought.”

Wow. Frank gave up on BJR.

1746

Rupert, it’s not what it looks like. They’re just trying to stop your deaths.

Two hours.

He’s trying to save Claire. Not himself.

What’s going to happen to Jamie after Claire leaves? He’s going to get it for killing Dougal.

via GIPHY

1968

Claire is out on the Culloden Moor.

“Here I am and you are, too.”

She’s telling him about Bree:

“Sometimes, when she turns and the light catches her red hair. I see her smile in her sleep. It takes my breath away because I see you.”

via GIPHY

“Goodbye, Jamie Fraser. My love.”

I’m not crying. YOU ARE.

via GIPHY

Bree is about to have a come to Jesus meeting with her momma.

“Did you see him? Did you see my father?”

via GIPHY

Claire will have to retell everything.

Roger is like…this is uncomfortable.

“Yes, there was another man, and I loved him very much. And yes, he was your real father.”

Bree has that Fraser temper, tho.

Sadly, there will be no introduction, Bree. He’s dead…or at least Claire thinks he is and we can’t meet him.

Let’s try and meet Jamie, Claire.

via GIPHY

I get it, Bree. You’re angry and feel betrayed, but listen.

Roger is the voice of reason!

I can’t deal with Claire telling Bree how much Jamie loved her.

Claire mentioned Culloden. It’s about to get crazy.

1746

Jamie confessed to Murtagh, and he isn’t surprised at all.

This is the deed! So they backdated it!

Fergus, you need to be safe, sweetheart. Take this mission.

“I will not fail you, my lord.”

via GIPHY

1968

Bree doesn’t believe this AT ALL.

I mean, Jamie has a lovely physique. These are important details, Bree.

“He was the love of my life!”

Oh wow. This is crazy intense.

She just wished Claire was dead instead of Frank. He must have been a great father to Bree…

via GIPHY

1746

“I love you like a son.”

“Like our own son.”

via GIPHY

Goodbye, Fergus. You sweet boy.

1968

Roger is amazing and I love him already. Let’s make this happen with Bree.

“I’m just saying, maybe we should keep an open mind.”

“Maybe we should keep an open tab instead.”

Claire sees Geillis’ flyer!! I just remembered she went through the stones in 1968!

via GIPHY

Her husband looks a little worse for the wear.

Claire is going to read that journal. You know it.

Told you she’d take that journal! Now she knows how to go back! YASSSS!

Oh dear. Here’s Geillis. She’s going back in time tonight to start the Jacobite rebellion or try to.

She prepared for this like a doomsday prepper. That’s how she was so good at pretending!

PARDON ME? A HUMAN SACRFICE?!?

via GIPHY

1746

Jamie and Murtagh have work to do and Claire has to get to the stones.

He wants Murtagh to gather their people and run.

Jamie wants his men safe but after he saves Claire, he’s going back?

Oh god no. Murtagh is coming back, too? PLEASE NO.

“I’ll not have you die for nothing.”

I won’t be. I’ll be dying with you.”

via GIPHY

1968

Bree wants to know about Jamie. This makes me so happy. Claire’s smile is everything right now.

I think y’all should try and go see him…with Geillis’ info.

Roger is concerned about Bree and I’m all about it.

via GIPHY

Claire really needs to stop Geillis from killing somebody to go through the stones.

If they stop her from going back, then Roger won’t exist. He’s Dougal’s direct ancestor. YIKES.

Bree still doesn’t believe any of this. I need her to have that moment Charles told Jamie about early….seeing is believing.

Geillis is crazy. Keep an eye on her.

1746

All these men marching to their deaths. It’s horrible.

Jamie chooses the battlefield to die not a hangman’s noose.

Jamie knows Claire’s pregnant. This hurts. He just wants to save their child.

“This child. This one. Is all that will be left of me. Ever.”

via GIPHY

1968

Giellis is setting someone on fire?!? Well, her burning at the stake is karma, isn’t it?

via GIPHY

1746

He’s doing everything he can to save her. I don’t want to watch this goodbye.

“Tell him I’m grateful. Tell him I trust him. Tell him I hate him to the very marrow of his bones.”

I’m not ready either.

I think Jamie and Claire should be together forever. In every life.

“I’ll find you. I promise. If I have to endure two-hundred years of purgatory, two hundred years without you…”

This kiss is what I’ve been missing this season.

“But when I stand before God I’ll have one thing to say to weigh against all the rest, “Lord, you gave me a fair woman. God, I loved her well.”

Now we get the love scene? Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for this.

A canon blast. It’s started.

Jamie’s muddy knees for the win.

via GIPHY

Oh my… That’s the dragonfly in amber from the museum.

“Blood of my blood. Bone of my bone. As long as be both shall live.”

Jamie has a ring for the baby!

That hug. He’s walking her back to the stone.

This scene y’all. THIS SCENE.

Cait and Sam are amazing. Their expressions.

1968

Claire knows that you don’t have to kill someone to go through.

“Is this the last place you saw my father?”

“Yes.”

Bree believes

via GIPHY

“You’re so like your father.”

So, they’ll just leave before the police get there?

As someone who hasn’t read the books, I’m really ready to go back in time and I HATE not knowing when that happens.

What did you find Roger???

Frank asked to know about Jamie? Wow.

Only one survived. James Fraser. HE LIVED. But what kind of life did he live after?!

She’s looking up like she wants to run through those stones. I don’t blame her.

“I have to go back.”

YASSSSS!!! Twenty years is too long to be separated.

via GIPHY

Well, after all that, I feel like I need a break, but at the same time, I really want Season Three! At least we know that Jamie is alive, and Fergus completed his mission because the deed was signed over. These are good things!

Beyond that, I don’t know where we’re going, but I know it’s going to be angsty and wonderful! See you then, sassenachs!
