PREVIEW: ‘Outlander’ Season 2 Premiere “Through A Glass, Darkly”

April 6, 2016 By Funmbi Leave a Comment

Claire and Jamie arrive in Paris and commence their plan to change history. Get a sneak peek of Outlander‘s Season 2 premiere episode “Through A Glass, Darkly”, airing Saturday, April 9 at 9:00pm ET|PT on STARZ.

Happy Hump Day Sassenachs! With yesterday’s news that we’ll have early access to Outlander‘s Season 2 premiere, the anticipation may/may not be killing me. All of the reviews I’ve read about the upcoming season have been gushed and swooned over how spectacular the show continues to be… but Team Outlander has never let us down, so I’m not at all surprised!

Thanks to our friends at STARZ, I’m glad to say that We So Nerdy will be bringing you weekly sneak peeks and previews of Season 2’s episodes. So, without further ado, let’s talk about what we can expect from the Episode 1, “Through A Glass, Darkly”.

If you’ll recall, the last time we were with Claire and Jamie (and Murtagh), they were sailing to France to escape the Red Coats. Jamie was still recovering from Black Jack Randall’s savage abuse; Claire shared news that she was pregnant; and the origins of plan to prevent the Jacobite Rising was in its (very) early stages. (Read a FULL recap of “To Ransom a Man’s Soul” HERE.)

And this is where the second season picks up. In “Through A Glass, Darkly” (directed by Metin Hüseyin):

Returning to her own time in the 20th century, Claire must reconcile her future with the life and love she left behind. Shifting back to 18th century, Jamie, Claire, and Murtagh arrive on the shores of France to turn the tides of history, but quickly learn that Paris presents its own unique set of challenges. (via STARZ)

Take a look at FOUR clips from the premiere episode.
In the first (“Let’s Talk About the Future”), Jamie and Claire are talking and it’s clear he’s still still clearly dealing with the trauma her endured at BJR’s hands.

The conversation continues in the second and third clips (“Up for a Challenge”, “Dishonorable Path”)—Claire speaks with Jamie about how they’ll go about trying to infiltrate the Jacobite movement and disrupt their plans. But Jamie doesn’t like the idea of leading a double life. What if the price of changing history was too high?

And in the fourth video (“The Reason of the Lie”), Murtagh realizes that Jamie and Claire have an ulterior motive for being in France and demands to know the full truth.

WOWSA, it looks like Jamie and Claire are getting down to business… it almost seems like she’s proposing the plan to infiltrate the Jacobites as a way of distracting him from his melancholy. Although, as Claire says, we know the stakes are high.

Also, I LOVE Murtagh; his loyalty to Jamie is unparalleled. I’m *really* glad that he’s in France with Jamie and Claire. They will need someone to have their back, and I’m glad Murtagh is that guy.

What do you think?

Take a look at seven photo stills from “Through A Glass, Darkly,” where we get more glimpses of Claire, Murtagh, and even Le Comte St. Germain! Remember to tune into STARZ at 9:00pm ET|PT on Saturday, April 9 for the Outlander Season 2 premiere. You know I’ll be live tweeting so come join me as we watch!
