14 Days of Fictional Swoon: Masters of Swoon

February 11, 2016 By Team WSN 7 Comments

We So Nerdy is participating in Fiction Fare/Swoony Boys Podcast 14 Days of Fictional Swoon Blog Hop. Read about some of our favorite Romance authors and enter to win a Kindle Fire E-reader!

Here at We So Nerdy, we’re huge fans of romantic stories… of course, if you’ve been reading our book reviews over the last year and a half, you know that we LOVE to swoon!

For the second year in a row, our friends at Fiction Fare and Swoony Boys Podcast are hosting the “14 Days of Fictional Swoon” Blog Hop. We’re taking the time to celebrate our love of books and all things swoony, just in time for Valentine’s Day!

So far during the Blog Hop, there have been several fun posts and giveaways from the other participating blogs (see below for the full list!).

Well today, (Day 11) is WSN’s day, and we’ll be telling you about some of our fave Masters of Swoon, AKA our go-to authors for to flaily, tummy-fluttering, swoony goodness. Each of these authors have written several novels across a bunch of genres, yet beautiful romance is a common thread. By day and BY NIGHT, we love to immerse ourselves in their words 🙂

Funmbi’s Masters of Swoon

Leisa Rayven

I’m a massive Leisa Rayven fangirl, and with good reason. I’ve been familar with her work for several years now, and her debut Starcrossed Series still gives me all sorts of feels! Leisa’s storytelling in Bad Romeo and Broken Juliet is truly masterful, particularly the way she uses time to portray the growth of her characters. Speaking of characters, Leisa’s leading man (Ethan Holt) and lady (Cassie Taylor) are so compelling and vulnerable. And when these two are together, you’ll practically catch fire from the chemistry!

In exciting news, a short film for Bad Romeo is in the works and Leisa has been sharing tidbits over the last week. Check out the Bad Romeo film Facebook page for more details!

And lucky for us, Leisa will soon be releasing the third book in the series, Wicked Heart, which follows Ethan’s sister, Elissa Holt, and a potentially forbidden romance with an ex-boyfriend…how juicy!

Tessa Dare

Historical romance is my favorite because it combines my love of history and swoons. And I can’t talk to you about HistRom without flailing over Tessa Dare. As one of the most influential voices in the genre, Ms. Dare repeatedly combines detailed and believable world-building with the most hilarious comedy. Her heroes might be abrasive at first, but they positively melt for their leading ladies, who are almost always strong-willed, witty, and relatable.

I completely recommend starting with the Spindle Cove series, which follows the adventures of ladies who don’t necessarily fit society’s mold and eventually find refuge and love in this coastal haven. The most recent book is Lord Dashwood Missed Out, a holiday novella and second-chance romance.

Tessa also has another series, Castles Ever After, that features heroines who inherit crumbling old castles, which leads to unexpected exploits. For example, the third novel When a Scot Ties the Knot involves a Scottish captain coming back from the dead, lobster copulation, and some human copulation too 😉

Katie’s Masters of Swoon

J.M. Darhower

I’ve followed J.M for some time now, and I can safely tell you that I will read anything she writes. Her characters are flawed but redeemable. The plots of her novels have depth and their resolutions are satisfying. The way she draws you in is unmatched, and the sexy scenes will always leave you a little breathless.

And God help me, my favorite swoony guy of hers in Luce, from the Extinguish series. Yup. Lucifer. Well, Corrado Morretti (MADE) is tied with him, which I somehow think he would smirk at, but only briefly.

Lisa Kleypas

My favorite historical romance series is a toss up between two of Lisa Kleypas’ work—The Hathaways and The Wallflowers. Kleypas knows how to write a love story with such swoony heroes that you won’t know what to do without yourself afterward, and her heroines are strong and smart. I know I’ve got a winner whenever I pick up one of her novels!

Favorite swoony leading man from this amazing author? Cam Rohan, who is from both series’ but gets his big book debut in Mine Til Midnight, the first book in The Hathaways series. Amelia Hathaway is one lucky leading lady!
BRB, while I re-read this one now.
