The Weinstein Company and Quentin Tarantino release the brand-new teaser trailer and poster for the upcoming Western, The Hateful Eight, out on Christmas Day for special 70mm release. Pre-order your tickets today!
I have a complex relationship with Quentin Tarantino films. While I LOVE his movies like Kill Bill and Django Unchained, I can only ever watch them once…maybe twice. My heart can rarely handle such gratuitous, bloody violence…
…I need only point you to the “The Bride vs. Crazy 88” scene in Kill Bill, Volume 1 and the INSANE gun fight at the end of Django to demonstrate my point. With that said, Tarantino is a brilliant story-teller and I really admire how he isn’t afraid to push the envelope. I’m pretty sure his upcoming film will do the same.
The Hateful Eight stars Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, Demian Bichir, and Channing Tatum. The Western is set in post-Civil War Wyoming, where eight travelers try to find shelter during a blizzard, but get involved in a plot of betrayal and deception.
The Weinstein Company recently released a brand-new teaser trailer and poster for the upcoming film. In the trailer we meet the Bounty Hunter, the Hangman, the Confederate, the Sheriff, the Mexican, the Little Man, the Cow Puncher, and the Prisoner. They’re all trapped with one another as they wait through a storm, but with a $10,000 reward up for grabs, no one can be trusted:
In THE HATEFUL EIGHT, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Kurt Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Samuel L. Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Walton Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie’s Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces. Bob (Demian Bichir), who’s taking care of Minnie’s while she’s visiting her mother, is holed up with Oswaldo Mobray (Tim Roth), the hangman of Red Rock, cow-puncher Joe Gage (Michael Madsen), and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Bruce Dern). As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all…
The Hateful Eight will open on December 25 in special 70mm release, then nationwide (digital) theatrical release on January 8, 2016.
