The Originals returns tonight at 9:00pm ET|PT on The CW! Executive Producer Julie Plec and other cast-members/creators give us a sneak peek of what we can expect from Season 3.
The Originals‘ third season premieres tonight and just as the first look trailer and images from last month suggests, the Mikaelson family drama is at an all-time high! We’re still reeling from the lengths to which Klaus went to keep Baby Hope for himself. Is forgiveness possible? Well, the impending threat from the Mikaelson Sires might necessitate burying the hatchet.
In tonight’s premiere episode “For the Next Millennium”, written by Michael Narducci and directed by Lance Anderson:
A WAR BREWING BETWEEN THE SIRE LINES?Months following their violent and deadly showdown with the powerful witch Dahlia, a rift continues to divide brothers Klaus and Elijah, while Freya searches for a way to heal their fractured bond and return their family to the way they once were. Meanwhile, Klaus’ suspicion piques when he learns that an old vampire friend named Lucien (guest star Andrew Lees) has arrived to New Orleans with a mysterious agenda involving the Mikaelson’s remaining sire lines. Elsewhere, Elijah questions whether he can truly forgive his brother for his mounting offenses, while Hayley struggles with being cursed to her wolf form in the bayou. In the French Quarter, Vincent and Cami assist Detective Kinney (guest star Jason Dohring) after a series of gruesome discoveries are made, leading them to believe they may have a serial killer on the loose. Finally, Marcel, who has regained control of the French Quarter once again, tries a new strategy to recruit vampires, while Davina, who is now Regent to the New Orleans witches, makes a decision that will find her and Marcel on opposite sides of an escalating conflict. In the video below, Julie Plec and Michael Narducci welcome us back to the world of The Originals! Six months after defeating Dahlia, the Mikaelsons are still estranged and divided. This season will also introduce to Lucien, an “old friend” and take us back 900 years to learn what exactly the Originals did in the aftermath of running from their father. Finally, there are a string of terrible murders in the French Quarter, and Cami has some suspicions about who is at fault:
Take a look at cast interviews with Yusuf Gatewood (Vincent), Leah Pipes (Cami), Danielle Campbell (Davina), and newcomer Jason Dohring, which give us several glimpses of what we can expect in Season 3. Though Vincent has given up magic, mounting threats might force him to go back on that vow. Cami has started her practice as a therapist and (unsurprisingly) Klaus is her first client. She has a hard time setting boundaries with him…
Davina refuses to do any favors for vampires; instead, she wants to convince the witches that she’s fit to lead. Finally, Detective Will Kinney talks about working with Cami to investigate who is behind the murders.
WOW, it looks like there’s A LOT going on in NOLA and many of our fave characters in conflict with one another. I don’t know that I expect Elijah to forgive Klaus for what he’s done to Hayley….hopefully, Cami is able to point that out to Klaus. Perhaps the new threat of the sire line war will be enough to bridge the conflict among the Originals. Incidentally, do you think the sires that are responsible for the NOLA murders?
I’m also really concerned about a fellow witch trying to kill Davina…that’s not a good way to start off your first year as Regent!
