VIDEO/PHOTOS: Preview Tonight’s ‘Blindspot’ Season 1, Episode 2 “A Stray Howl”

September 28, 2015 By Funmbi Leave a Comment

In tonight’s Blindspot, one of Jane Doe’s tattoos takes the FBI on another quest, this time pointing to an Air Force pilot with a lethal agenda. Get a sneak peek of “A Stray Howl”, airing at 10:00pm ET|PT on NBC.

Last week’s series premiere of Blindspot plunged us into a world of intense action and mystery. But even in that first hour, we started to unravel the puzzle surrounding Jane Doe’s identity and her enigmatic tattoos.

Blindspot‘s pilot kicked off with Times Square being cleared out because of a mysterious, unidentified bag. NYPD/bomb squad attempted to secure the area, and as one lone officer approached the duffle, it started to move. A woman who we now know as Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander) emerged from the bag, completely nude and covered, head-to-toe in tattoos. From there, the mission was on to figure out who Jane was, why she had no memories, and what her tattoos meant. After interrogation and cataloging of the tattoos, the FBI reached out to Special Agent Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton). Why? Well, his name was very prominently marked on Jane Doe. Agent Weller had never met Jane before, and she didn’t recognize him…her memory was well and truly wiped.

Little by little, with help from FBI Director Bethany Mayfair (Marianne Jean-Baptiste), Dr. Borden (Ukweli Roach), and Patterson (Ashley Johnson), we started to learn about Jane Doe. First, we learned Jane prefers coffee to tea. After deciphering one of the tattoos behind her ear (a date and address), we found out Jane speaks an obscure dialect of Chinese called Wenzhouhua. After some contention, Jane and Weller arrived at the address, an apartment being rented to someone named Chao. With Jane’s help with translation, they spoke to Chao’s roommate and entered his room. In the room, they found bomb-making materials and a video of Chao saying he would detonate an explosive in retaliation for Chinese suffering (specifically for the lack of American assistance in freeing his mother from a Chinese work camp).

Meanwhile, in another part of the building, Jane interrupted a man harming his wife/girlfriend. This was when we learned she had serious martial arts skills.

Weller and his team were able to find Chao and intercept an explosive he left on a New York subway train. Unfortunately he got away and headed for his next target, the Statue of Liberty. The FBI evacuated Liberty Island, while Weller and Jane chased Chao up the statue. Jane was shot in the process (grazed by the bullet), but is able to rally and save Weller from Chao. After she took the shot, Jane had her first major memory…she had long hair and was running an outdoor shooting course in the woods while a bearded man commented on her performance.

Later on that same bearded man met Chao at the hospital where he was recovering from a gunshot wound. Apparently Chao was supposed to die and the Mystery Bearded Man (MBM) came to finish the job. Chao’s life in exchange for his sister’s. As MBM walked away, we got one more flashback of Jane agreeing to have her memory wiped. Apparently it was her only choice…INTERESTING!

In other developments, Patterson and Director Mayfair identified one of Jane’s tattoos as a NAVY SEAL tatt. But there are no female NAVY SEALs…right?  Weller was sure that Jane was Special Forcers, but was still unclear why someone would use Jane to transmit clues about potential terrorist attacks. Why not just call the FBI directly? It also turned out that one of Jane’s tattoos is the case number of a redacted file detailing Director Mayfair’s past dealings with murder and embezzlement…maybe? (SUSPECT!)

In tonight’s episode “A Stray Howl”:

A CRYPTIC TATTOO SENDS THE TEAM AFTER A FIGHTER PILOT ON A DEADLY MISSION—The team unlocks a cryptic tattoo that points to Major Arthur Gibson (guest star Robert Eli), an Air Force pilot with a painful past and a lethal agenda. Jane continues to search for clues to her identity and is haunted when flashes of a disturbing memory force her to question her past. Meanwhile, Weller thinks he might know Jane’s true identity. (via NBC)

Take a look at a sneak peek from the upcoming show. In the video, Jane and Weller have just been in an explosion at Major Gibson’s home, but the experience triggers another one of her on-again/off-again flashbacks.

Entertainment Weekly has another clip HERE that follows the explosion. Weller and his team are trying to figure out why Gibson would blow up his own place and what the next target might be. There’s also some disagreement about whether blindly Jane’s tattoos is the best strategy.

Check out 15+ images from “A Stray Howl”, which give us glimpses of Major Gibson’s plan for terror. We also see that Jane and Weller’s partnership deepens and he even helps her to train.

Remember to tune into NBC at 10:00pm ET|PT tonight for the new Blindspot, and come live tweet with while we watch.
