New Regency and 20th Century Fox release an exclusive teaser trailer for the upcoming action-adventure film The Revenant, directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu and starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
Earlier this year during their April CinemaCon presentation, 20th Century Fox shared some preliminary details about their upcoming film The Revenant, directed/co-written by Academy Award winner Alejandro G. Iñárritu and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson, and Will Poulter.
Today we got our first-look at the action-adventure film, inspired by real-life events. Check out the official synopsis and teaser trailer below, which features DiCaprio as the legendary explorer Hugh Glass facing off against nature, Native Americans, and even himself:
Inspired by true events, THE REVENANT is an immersive and visceral cinematic experience capturing one man’s epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. In an expedition of the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy). Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption.
This trailer is the definition of intense and so gritty. Every time DiCaprio has a new film, I wonder if the role will be the one that finally nabs him an Oscar. Well, it’s not surprise that Hollywood is already talking about Academy Award nominations for The Revenant.
According to Brett Lang at Variety, Iñárritu and cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki “may have accomplished something galvanizing and remarkable”, so much that this film may revolutionize the industry. And, personally, I’ve always admired the way Leo pours every fiber of his being into the films he takes on. From this teaser, The Revenant is no different.
The Revenant comes to theaters for limited release December 25, 2015 and then everywhere in January 2016. Stay up-to-date by following the official social media accounts.
