Last night (June 17, 2015) the seven ‘Twilight Stories’ finalists were presented with plaques by Stephenie Meyer and Kristen Stewart at the Women in Film’s Crystal + Lucy Awards in LA. The seven short films will debut on Facebook next month.
Back in April, Stephanie Meyer announced the top six female directors and screenplays that would move on to the Short Film production phase of the “Twilight Storytellers –New Creative Voices of The Twilight Saga” campaign.
For the finalists—Kailey and Sam Spear (“The Mary Alice Brandon File“), Maja Fernqvist (“Consumed“), Lindsey Hancock Williamson (“Turncoats“), Amanda Tasse (“Sunrise“), Nicole Eckenroad (“The Groundskeeper“), Yulin Kuang (“We’ve Met Before“)—filming has completed and now they’re in the process of completing finishing touches. Twilight‘s official twitter account also announced that Cate Carson’s “Masque” has been selected as the Wildcard submission. Even more exciting, we learned that we’ll finally be able to watch all seven of these short films when they debut on Facebook NEXT MONTH. Fans will then be able to vote for their faves and help the panel of judges select the Grand Prize winner ($100,000, a chance to shadow a director, and an all-new 2015 Volvo XC90).

THE STORYTELLERS – NEW VOICES OF THE TWILIGHT SAGA were chosen through Tongal, a crowd source site, where fans voted on their favorite characters and aspiring female filmmakers submitted screenplays and director pitches. The six winning shorts were financed through production advances, and fans, along with the star-studded female panelists, including Stephenie Meyer, actress Kristen Stewart, Academy Award winners Kate Winslet and Octavia Spencer, Jennifer Lee, the award-winning writer and one of the directors of Disney’s global blockbuster Frozen, Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke, Emmy Award-winning actress Julie Bowen, and Women In Film President Cathy Schulman will select a grand prize winning filmmaker. The grand prize winner will be entitled to a cash prize and career opportunities.
