VIDEO: First Look at Michael Fassbender as ‘Steve Jobs’ in New Biopic

May 26, 2015 By Funmbi Leave a Comment

Universal Pictures gives us a first look at the upcoming film Steve Jobs starring Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet, and Seth Rogen—coming to theaters October 2015.

When you think about modern technological development, Steve Jobs is certainly one of the first people who comes to mind. His work with Apple and Pixar Animation Studios and the role he played in ushering a global digital revolution (iRevolution) is no doubt one of the most significant contributions to expanding popular access to technology in our contemporary era. And when Steve Jobs passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2011, the world felt (and still feels) this loss.

Since then there have been attempts to tell Steve Jobs’ story. In 2013, Open Road Films released Jobs, directed by Joshua Michael Stern and starring Ashton Kutcher as the man himself. The film depicted “Steve Jobs’ ascension from college dropout into one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of the 20th century,” yet it received mixed and negative critical reviews.

More recently, Academy Award-winning director and screenwriter Danny Boyle and Aaron Sorkin (respectively) have teamed up to make a second attempt with the upcoming biopic Steve Jobs, based on Walter Isaacson’s best-selling biography of the Apple founder:

Set backstage at three iconic product launches and ending in 1998 with the unveiling of the iMac, Steve Jobs takes us behind the scenes of the digital revolution to paint an intimate portrait of the brilliant man at its epicenter.

Michael Fassbender plays Steve Jobs, the pioneering founder of Apple, with Academy Award-winning actress Kate Winslet starring as Joanna Hoffman, former marketing chief of Macintosh. Steve Wozniak, who co-founded Apple, is played by Seth Rogen, and Jeff Daniels stars as former Apple CEO John Sculley. (via Universal Pictures)

Last week, Universal released a teaser trailer giving us an official first look. Check out the video below, which features voiceover of Steve Jobs (Fassbender) speaking about executing his vision and receiving various challenges. We get glimpses of the major characters before zooming in on Jobs on stage in his iconic black turtleneck and jeans, preparing to change the world:

Michael Fassbender is pretty convincing, don’t you think? I’m definitely looking forward to seeing a full trailer and hearing more about film.

Steve Jobs hits theaters on October 9, 2015, but make sure to visit the film’s official site and follow the official Twitter and Facebook accounts for updates.
