The God of Mischief is Back! ‘Loki’ premieres June 9 on Disney +!

May 29, 2021 By Katie Leave a Comment

Disney + continues its deep dive into the MCU and character driven stories with Loki. This limited series premieres on June 9, and we’ve got all the teaser trailers you can handle!

Let’s catch up a little. Loki takes places after the events of Avengers: Endgame when Tony, Steve, Bruce, and Scott go back to the timeline when Loki brings the Chitauri to NYC with the Tesseract. In trying to retrieve the Tesseract, they actually lose it, and this Loki uses it to escape from that timeline. It’s important to remember this because the Loki we’re getting isn’t the one who lost his mother in Thor: The Dark World, redeemed himself in Thor: Ragnarok, or sacrificed himself in Avengers: Infinity War. This Loki hasn’t had the growth, so I’m hoping this series allows him that same growth in a different way.

All the MCU series so far have delved deep into the characters and their motivations, so I feel pretty comfortable with Loki’s story in their hands. I’ve always loved his character so much, and his development over the Infinity Saga was great. He’s getting a do over, though. It’ll be interesting what the TVA (Time Variance Authority) tells him about his actions and how they’ve caused ripple effects throughout the universe.

The synopsis for the series has been very hush hush so far. This has been typical with MCU series, and you have to had it to Disney and Marvel for keeping the lid on the details since most of these shows have been in development for two years now.

Marvel Studios’ “Loki” features the God of Mischief as he steps out of his brother’s shadow in a new Disney+ series that takes place after the events of “Avengers: Endgame.” Tom Hiddleston returns as the title character, joined by Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku and Richard E. Grant. Kate Herron directs “Loki,” and Michael Waldron is head writer. {Via Disney}

I’m very interested to see what kind of cameos we’ll get in Loki. I feel like he’ll be jumping timelines so much, that we’ll have to either see old footage from the Infinity Saga or even quick scenes with familiar faces. In one of the first clips, Loki jumps from a plane and says, “Brother. Heimdall. I hope you’re ready.” This makes me nervous because the Bifrost does catch him, but what Asgard is he returning to?

You can check out the extensive teaser trailers and the character posters below. We’ll be waiting (not-so-patiently) for June 9 for the first episode of this six episode series. Like the promo says, Wednesdays are the new Fridays.
