‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ Releases Long Awaited First Trailer

It’s finally here! The trailer for Godzilla vs. Kong premiered today, and we can’t wait for this epic monster movie! Get all the details here, including the premiere date!

The first trailer for Godzilla vs. Kong is here, and I couldn’t be more excited! I absolutely adore “monster” movies, and I’ve been waiting for this one for a while!

“The world needs Kong to stop what’s coming.”

The trailer leaves us with several questions, but propelling the plot are two very important ones: what’s coming and why is Godzilla freaking out and killing innocent people? When we last left Godzilla, he was basically the protector of the world and all other Titans bowed down to him. This trailer leads us to believe that Godzilla and Kong are the only two Titans left, and we don’t know how that came to be.

It doesn’t seem like too much time has passed since Godzilla: King of Monsters, so whatever happened must have occurred soon after the events of that film.

The trailer opens with Monarch(?) removing Kong from Skull Island along with a little girl, who appears to be from the indigenous tribe that lived on Skull Island. This child is the only person who can communicate with Kong. It seems like she may be an orphan, and perhaps Kong feels protective over her, especially since he’s an orphan himself. If a failing on Kong’s part caused her people to die, then I can absolutely see Kong taking on the mantle of that little girl’s protector.

Meanwhile, Godzilla is attacking cities with no provocation. This is completely at odds with his behavior in the previous film. Could this be a result of another device meant to mimic the communication frequencies of Titans? Instead of people trying to control Titans into taking over the world again, maybe this is a group that’s hellbent on showing that Titans need to be destroyed and have caused Godzilla to flip-out to further their agenda?

In the trailer, it says that one of them will fall, but do you think they’ll actually kill off one of these characters they’ve spent so much time building up? In Kong’s movie, we learned all about his lifetime of loneliness and protective nature. In Godzilla’s film, we learned of his innate desire to protect the world and restore balance. I don’t want either of them to die, and I’d really love to see Godzilla and Kong team up against whatever or whoever is coming.

Sidenote: I absolutely love how they use the color palettes associated with each character. Godzilla’s shots are the icy blue of his power and Kong’s shots are those rich sunset colors of Skull Island.

Godzilla vs. Kong will premiere in theaters and on HBO Max on March 31, 2021!
