STARZ Announces Conclusion of “The Spanish Princess” Limited Series

June 10, 2019 By Katie Leave a Comment

Don’t stress about the end of this season of The Spanish Princess! STARZ announced that it will add an eight episode arc, detailing Catherine of Aragon’s life after marrying Henry VIII!

If you’re like us, you’ve been watching The Spanish Princess and dreading where it might leave us hanging. Catherine of Aragon is a such a formidable woman, and I desperately want to see how she deals with her marital demise.

One of the best things about this series is it has allowed us to follow the events in a chronological order that most of us haven’t done before. Sure, we know about Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII, but usually we’re dropped into the story at that point. Philippa Gregory’s novels allow us to follow the story of the Tudors from their start.

Emma Frost (executive producer) has already stated that they won’t try and adapt The Other Boleyn Girl into a series because it’s been done several times before, so I’m really happy they’re going to finish out Catherine’s story. If you put The Other Boleyn Girl, in Frost and Matthew Graham’s (executive producer) hands, they’d create something insanely good, though.

For the time being, I’ll be happy with this extended series order and the fact that cast will be returning! Charlotte Hope (Catherine) and Ruairi O’Connor (Henry) have been incredible so far. I’m also very excited to see how the show depicts Lina (Stephanie Levi-John) and Oviedo’s (Aaron Cobham) relationship later in life.

You can take a look at the synopsis here and get excited for more Tudor drama later next year!

Synopsis

“The Spanish Princess” continues the story of Queen Catherine and Henry VIII. Presiding over the most glamourous court in Europe and beloved by their people, together they create an England that is proud, confident and can withstand the threat of foreign wars. But when Catherine struggles to produce an heir, her marriage and her life are under threat, and her past comes back to haunt her. Despite proving herself a politician, a diplomat, a national inspiration and even a military commander, Catherine must battle to save her love and her King and protect her adopted country from chaos. {via STARZ}
