PREVIEW: ‘The Walking Dead’ Midseason Premiere “Honor”

February 23, 2018 By Katie Leave a Comment

The Walking Dead is coming back and promises to rip your heart out! No. Really. I’ve seen the teaser photos and you can, too. Here’s our preview for “Honor”!

I was unaware that I was so attached to Carl Grimes until he showed the world his walker bite and I yelled at my television. It’s like THAT’S HOW HE DIES?!. To be honest, the only time I’ve been more pissed is about Khal Drogo.

With the midseason premiere hitting us on Sunday, and running long at 82 minutes, we know that there will be tears and we need to stock up on tissue. Then I saw the stills from the episode and have a lot of feelings. This is going to be a hard one, y’all.

Alexandria is in ruins. Carl is dying. Negan somehow got the upper hand. AGAIN. There’s been so much loss, and it’s going to get worse before it gets better.

It appears that some of the episode will be told through flashbacks as we see Carl and Judith together in the ASZ pre-Negan’s bombing party.

What absolute guts me are the next two photos. Carl was always so worried about Judith remembering their mom, and it seems like he’s writing her (and his dad) letters, so that they’ll have a piece of him. One photo, he’s painting and leaving handprints behind with Judith. A real, tangible reminder of his presence.

Then there’s this one:

We know how important it was for Carl to get the picture of Lori, Rick and him at that resturant in S3. He wanted Judith to know exactly what Lori looked like, and Michonne helped him get it. We can safely assume that the picture was left behind at the prison when the Governor attacked in S4, so Carl is taking a picture with Judith, so that she’ll know what he looked like and have something to remember him by.

It’s freaking devastating, and the writers are doing good on making me cry because I’m tearing up now thinking about it. I still completely disagree with this decision about Carl’s death.

Then there’s the voiceover that Carl has in the trailers: “Before mom died, she said I was going to beat this world. You will.” This is most definitely directed to Judith.

As we get ready to say goodbye to Carl, what do you think the rest of the season will look like and how will this change Rick?

Take a look at the sneak peak and other stills below to get an idea what’s happening to the people of the Kingdom, too! Will Carol and Morgan be able to save Ezekiel without sacrificing themselves? With Lennie James moving to FTWD will they kill him off on TWD or is all this talk of time jumps on FTWD and indicator that they’re speeding up the apocalypse?

We’ll just have to wait and see!
