Entertainment Weekly debuts a sexy, new photoshoot for their September cover for Outlander Season 3! Also, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe share more details in a BTS video.
We Sassenachs know that Entertainment Weekly has been a longtime supporter of our Outlander love, breaking exclusives about the series and sharing goodies to get us through Droughtlander. Of course, EW is notorious for giving us the hottest images of Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe on their covers. For Exhibit A, I point to THIS super sexy cover that debuted ahead of Outlander Season 2 last year.
And for Exhibit B, today EW revealed their brand new photoshoot with Sam and Cait for their September 1, 2017 issue. In addition, we get not one, but THREE separate covers. The shoot took place in South Africa when Outlander moved Season 3 filming to take advantage of the Black Sails set. By now we know that a significant part of the third season (like Voyager) takes place during a Trans-Atlantic trip from Scotland to the Americas. In the images, we see Sam and Cait posing on a ship, in the water, and on the hot, sandy beaches. IT IS GLORIOUS.

In the behind-the-scenes video for the photoshoot (below), Sam and Cait talk about filming in South Africa, especially the heat. They also share that Season 3 picks up right where the Season 2 finale leaves off, with Jamie heading to the Battle of Culloden and Claire reuniting with Frank and moving to Boston. Though they begin in very different places, Claire eventually takes a major risk to get back to Jamie once she learns he’s alive. At first it’s a great reunion. Yet, after being apart for 20 years, they two have to learn their relationship again, rather than holding to the the fantasy that sustained them through the separation.

The two EW covers of Cait (Claire Randall Fraser) and Sam (Jamie Fraser) individually will be available on newsstands this Friday (tomorrow!).
