EW & TV Guide Reveal Special Comic-Con 2017 Issues

July 12, 2017 By Funmbi 1 Comment

Entertainment Weekly and TV Guide shared the covers and content from their Comic-Con 2017 special issues. Get a sneak peek!

Today is officially one week until San Diego Comic-Con kicks off with Preview Night and Team WSN is so excited, we’re practically vibrating in our seats!

The programming schedule for all four days (plus Preview Night) is available (HERE) and the official Comic-Con 2017 app is live (HERE). So now, we’re all in planning mode, making sure we pack everything we need (sleeping bag included because Hall H Line/wristbands!), noting all the panels we’re interested in attending, and making some difficult choices.

I’m thinking a lot about the panels and autograph sessions I want to attend, but today we got a reminder that we’ll want to spend some time on the Convention floor collecting awesome swag.

Every year Entertainment Weekly and TV Guide produce special SDCC issues and today, they shared the covers and gave us a taste of the amazeballs content we can expect.

EW is giving us an exclusive first look at Black Panther. In addition to the glorious cover (below), the issue includes new cast portraits, film images, details from their set visit, and Q&As with cast members/creators. As a preview, take a look at 20 Black Panther images HERE, featuring Chadwick Boseman (T’Challa), Michael B. Jordan (Erik Killmonger), Danai Gurira (Okoye), Florence Kasumba (Ayo), Lupita Nyong’o (Nakia), plus more. The costuming is so stunning and costume designer Ruth E. Carter deserves a *major* shout-out.

EW’s Comic-Con issue will also include a preview of Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Ready Player One, first Look at director Ava Duvernay’s A Wrinkle In Time, concept art from the new film version of Stephen King’s IT, Ezra Miller on his version of The Flash in Justice League, and Alicia Vikander on resurrecting Lara Croft in Tomb Raider.

For the eighth year in a row TV Guide is partnering with Warner Bros. Television to bring us Warner Bros.–themed Comic-Con special editions of the magazine. The four collectible covers feature the following WBTV series and stars: Riverdale’s KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes and Cole Sprouse; Supergirl’s Melissa Benoist, Supernatural’s Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, and a trio of DC Super Heroes — Arrow’s Stephen Amell, Black Lightning’s Cress Williams and The Flash’s Grant Gustin — together on one cover! Inside, we’ll get previews of WBTV’s highly anticipated new series Black Lightning, Krypton, Deception, Young Sheldon, Titans, and Castle Rock; an exclusive pull-out poster from Westworld; a 20-page pull-out Archie comic based on Riverdale; behind-the-scenes photos from Comic-Con 2016; burning questions answered about The 100, Arrow, The Big Bang Theory, Blindspot, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, Gotham, iZOMBIE, Lucifer, The Originals, Riverdale, Supergirl, Supernatural and Westworld; and so much more!

Warner Bros. will distribute the special issues to fans for free at the Warner Bros. booth (#4545). And for those unable to attend SDCC, all four collectible covers will be on sale at retailers nationwide, as well as online at tvinsider.com/comicconmag2017 beginning July 18. Make sure to grab your TV Guides while they last!
