PREVIEW: ‘Prison Break’ Season 5, Episode 5 “Contingency”

Last week’s Prison Break brought us one of the moments we’ve been clamoring for: the Michael/Lincoln reunion!

As the episode title connoted, “Prisoner’s Dilemma” was just that. As the prison guards fled ISIL’s incoming invasion, they abandoned Ogygia to the increasingly rowdy prisoners. During this time, Michael, Whip, Ja, and Abu Ramal were trapped in separate cells in solitary confinement. They could still make their escape, but Ramal needed to make the first move by using a spoon, piece of string, and pipe to spring Michael’s door. Ramal was very resistant, but as the other prisoners (led by Cross) articulated their plan to use Ramal as hostage to bargain their freedom from ISIL, Ramal agreed to help.

As this was going on Lincoln was trying to find a way to break his brother out of Ogygia. He arrived at the prison just in time to see the guard with the keys to the prison running away. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately?) the guard was gunned down by ISIL fighters. Linc, with help from his young bubble gun/tic-tac loving friend, was able to distract the ISIL fighters and get the keys.

Linc returned to Ogygia just in time to see Michael and crew (now with Sid) jump the fence. As the Ogygia 5 fled the prison, they eventually came across other ISIL members. Ramal was angry about Michael’s plan to double-cross him and ordered his fighters to kill them all. Thank goodness Linc arrived with a machine gun. While Whip stabbed Ramal, Linc gunned down the other ISIL fighters. And then Michael and Lincoln could finally hug it out! Unfortunately, their murder of Ramal was recorded and being circulated, meaning that ISIL had declared war on the group.

Meanwhile, in the U.S., T-Bag accosted Paul Kellerman for information about Kaniel Outis and Michael. Kellerman mentioned that former CIA agent, the mysterious Poseidon, was likely calling the shots for Michael to free Abu Ramal. Before they could get far, two “agents” (the same ones who had attacked Lincold, Sara, and her husband, Jacob, in Ithaca) arrived. They killed Kellerman, but T-Bag was able to escape. Eventually he followed the two and saw them meeting with none other than Jacob. WHOA.

In tonight’s episode “Contingency”:

Lincoln becomes frustrated as he tries to understand what really happened to Michael. C-Note has a new escape plan, but fears it will not be executed quickly enough, as Cyclops is trailing closely behind. Meanwhile, Sara struggles with the idea that Michael may be alive. (via FOX)

In the episode trailer (below) you see some of these frustrations manifest as Michael, Linc, and company try to escape Yemen with their lives, while Sara learns that Jacob might have been manipulating her this whole time.
