We’re Thinkin’ the World Needs to See ‘Atomic Blonde’!

March 10, 2017 By T.J. 1 Comment

Oni Press graphic novel The Coldest City written by Antony Johnston and illustrated by Sam Hart gets its film adaptation with Atomic Blonde, starring Oscar winner Charlize Theron.

This summer, Charlize Theron will grace the big screen as Agent Lorraine Broughton in Atomic Blonde, an action-thriller set during the Cold War. Broughton, a MI6 assassin and the “crown jewel of Her Majesty’s Secret Intelligence Service” will showcase her cunning wit, keen marksmanship, along with lethal hand-to-hand combat skills in her quest to retrieve sensitive materials out of Berlin and uncover who killed one of her fellow agents. To assist her on ground in this effort is David Percival (James McAvoy); John Goodman and Toby Jones play pivotal roles in the film, but as of yet it their exact portrayals haven’t been released.

If the above synopsis doesn’t have you excited, know that David Leitch directed Atomic Blonde. David is one of the individuals responsible for bringing us John Wick and is directing Deadpool 2. Also, Kurt Johnstad of 300 fame, wrote the film’s screenplay and the talented Sofia Boutella also stars in what should be your next action film fav.

With a little over four months until the release of Atomic Blonde on July 28th, we were blessed with a restricted trailer that features Charlize following suit of many action stars and forgoing a stunt double! Many have already tried to state Theron’s impressive skill set is reminiscent of Angelina Jolie in Salt, but I say, let’s not. The only comparisons between the flicks are they both star female action leads that are government agents. Otherwise, they are set in two different time periods with different premises. Just enjoy the trailer and the badassery of its star!

Atomic Blonde should surely have moviegoers clamoring to the theater to witness every amazing scene or at least it will have me spending all my pennies to see it a couple of times. Until then, keep it locked here for all the details and make sure to check out the social channels for the movie.
