On The Walking Dead, we’re back at the Sanctuary with Negan, and he’s furious about Daryl’s escape. He also has Eugene with him. Here’s a preview for “Hostiles and Calamities”!

Last week on The Walking Dead, we got a look at the newest group (maybe comic!Whisperers?) led by Jadis. That portion of the show felt very 80s, dystopian action flick and left us with Rick battling the most extreme walker ever.

The episode was also full of Richonne moments that made us swoon, from her yelling advice to Rick to him getting her a trash sculpture cat to replace the one she lost at the prison. I love that Richonne has blossomed into such a power couple. It’s been a gift in a season of terrible loss.
On the flip side of this episode, we had Daryl befriending Richard from The Kingdom. Daryl was very much about getting vengeance on the Saviors until he found out that Carol was nearby. Then he fought Richard behind a car until the Saviors drove by and their ambush couldn’t happen.
After he threatened Richard with death if anything, and I mean absolutely anything, happened to Carol, he went to visit her himself. Daryl sees Carol and asks her why she left the group, and she explains what we already know. She can’t kill anymore, and she knew that if she stayed, she would end up killing again.
Then she looks to Daryl and asks if everyone is okay, and Daryl does something he rarely, if ever, does. He lies. He tells her that everyone is fine and they took care of Negan.

When he leaves her home, he hugs her tightly. To the viewer, it felt like Daryl was saying goodbye to her, and that automatically makes me worry about Daryl’s wellbeing. Back at the Kingdom, he gathers his things and leaves. He’s not hiding out and he’s not going to wait for the fight to come to him. He’s going home, and he’s going to fight alongside Rick.
Tonight’s episode of The Walking Dead, “Hostiles and Calamities” seems to put the focus back on Negan and the Sanctuary. With Daryl’s escape, someone’s going to pay, and it might end up being Dwight.
We also have to worry about Eugene. Negan took him from the ASZ and knows he has the capability to make bullets. Will Eugene become a provider for the Saviors? Will he be forced to listen to “Easy Street” until he breaks or is Eugene already broken after seeing Glenn, Abraham, Spencer, and Olivia murdered in front of him?
