One of the most indelible moments in American history is the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. If we ask our parents and grandparents, I think they all remember where they were the day JFK died.
In the following years, the country’s fascination with the Kennedy family remained, and this was partially driven by the iconic Jacqueline Kennedy (Onassis).
In the new film Jackie, Natalie Portman stars as the former first lady and follows her in the days immediately following her husband’s murder.
The first official trailer was released earlier this month and gives us glimpses of Mrs. Kennedy’s grief and her struggle to remain strong while facing so much scrutiny she faced from her family, friends, and the country at large.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Portman talked about portraying the many sides of Mrs. Kennedy:
“[We see] the toughness of who she was, dealing with what she had to go through while keeping herself together for the sake of the country and her family, and also the vulnerability and the intelligence of how she really crafted [JFK’s] legacy.”
Jackie was written by Noah Oppenheim, directed by Pablo Larrain, and also stars Greta Gerwig, Peter Sarsgaard, John Carroll Lynch, and John Hurt.
The film will be out in select theaters on December 2, 2016.
