Timeless on NBC is one of the shows I’ve been most looking forward to in the Fall 2016 season!
I’m such a massive history buff, so the idea of traveling through time to chase down a big baddie who’s looking to destroy the world we know? HERE FOR IT!
In the not too distant future, a mysterious criminal (Garcia Flynn, played by Goran Visnjic) steals a secret state-of-the-art time machine with the intention of changing the past and destroying America as we know.
Our only hope comes in the form of an an unexpected team: a scientist/engineer (Rufus Carlin, played by Malcolm Barrett), a soldier (Wyatt Logan, played by Matt Lanter), and a history professor (Lucy Preston, played by Abigail Spencer).
They must use the machine’s prototype to travel back in time to critical events and try to stay a step ahead of the dangerous Flynn. At the same time, they must make every effort not to affect the past, themselves. Can this handpicked team uncover the mystery behind it all and end his destruction before it’s too late?
In tonight’s pilot episode (written by Eric Kripke and Shawn Ryan, directed by Neil Marshall), we witness Flynn the machine and the assembling of the trio:
The U.S. government asks a history professor, Lucy Preston, a soldier, Wyatt Logan, and a scientist, Rufus Carlin to embark on the adventure of a lifetime and chase the criminal mastermind, Garcia Flynn (Goran Višnjic) to the Hindenburg disaster of 1937. While there, Lucy, Wyatt, and Rufus each have to draw on expertise to save the present and protect the past-possibly at great personal cost. Can this unlikely trio stop Flynn and unveil the mystery behind it all before it’s too late? (via NBC)

This show does look massive, especially in terms of portraying these iconic historical events.
I’m also really interested to see how they deal with the social inequality of the time. It’s true… Rufus is likely to have a more difficult time with the time travel than others.
There’s also the issue of Lucy, Rufus, and Wyatt fighting against their own instinct to change their own individual futures.
