Darling Sassenachs, Droughtlander is in full effect, which means we have to grab onto every tidbit of information to get us through the Outlander withdrawals.

Back in August, Sam Heughan and Maril Davis confirmed that filming for Season 3 had begun. This has been complemented with some glimpses fans have had of ongoing scenes (for more information, go HERE and HERE). We also know that was recently David Berry has been cast as fan-favorite Lord John Grey.

However, yesterday, STARZ issued an press release officially announcing that production of Outlander Season 3 is underway in Scotland.

Like Season 2, the third season will include 13 episodes based on book 3 in Diana Gabaldon’s series, Voyager.

According to the season synopsis:

Book three of “Outlander” picks up right after Claire (CAITRIONA BALFE) travels through the stones to return to her life in 1948.

Now pregnant, she struggles with the fallout of her sudden re-appearance and its effect on her marriage to her first husband, Frank (TOBIAS MENZIES).

Meanwhile, in the 18th century, Jamie (SAM HEUGHAN) suffers from the aftermath of his doomed last stand at the historic battle of Culloden, as well as the loss of Claire.

As the years pass, Jamie  and Claire attempt to make a life apart from one another, each haunted by the memory of their lost love.

The budding possibility that Claire can return to Jamie in the past breathes new hope into Claire’s heart… as well as new doubt. Separated by continents and centuries, Claire and Jamie must find their way back to each other.

As always, adversity, mystery, and adventure await them on the path to reunion. And the question remains: when they find each other, will they be the same people who parted at the standing stones, all those years ago?

Drama, drama, drama… and I can’t wait!

Along with this announcement, STARZ shared videos of Sam and Ron Moore from set welcoming fans to day one of Season 3 filming, which was taking place on a large open field… because the Battle of Culloden *SCREAMING*

“Happy Season 3 Day… let’s go fight!”

This is me laughing so I don’t weep from the fear and anticipated stress of having to watch Jamie and our beloved Scots on that forsaken Culloden Moor.

*SIGH*

And let’s not even talk about having to watch Claire and Jamie build a life separate from one another.

What are you most excited about (or dreading) in Season 3?
