SDCC 2016 Interview with Jaimie Alexander (‘Blindspot’)

August 18, 2016 By Funmbi 1 Comment

Jaimie Alexander gives us clues about the big reveal of Jane Doe’s real identity and the Jeller relationship in Blindspot Season 2.

Why is Blindspot such an AMAZEBALLS show? Well, for me, a leading reason is Jaimie Alexander.

Just as Martin Gero and Sarah Schechter mention in our interview, Jaimie is the perfect, badass actress to carry this story forward.

Every week as we watch Jane Doe struggle with her identity, the audience is right there with her.

Even in moments where Jane’s memories lead us to believe that she might be a bad guy—like when we find out it’s Jane’s own plan to tattoo her body and erase her memories—I feel so strongly about her innate goodness.

Jane is such an integral part of Team Weller, saving the day time and time again.

And it’s beyond obvious that she cares about Weller, so much so, she fights against her handler/former lover Oscar’s instructions to sabotage the FBI.

She holds on so tightly to the discovery that she’s Taylor Shaw and has a childhood link to Kurt…

… Of course, in the end, we, Jane, and Weller learn the truth, which causes major disorder in the Blindspot world.

But the question remains, who is Jane Doe?

We talked to Jaimie about this very question and more at SDCC last month. Take a look at clips from our interview!

So, we know for sure that Jane isn’t Taylor Shaw? What does that mean for her?

According to Jaimie, learning that Jane isn’t Taylor totally devastates her. With that said, within the first episode of Season 2, we will learn, for sure, who Jane is and it’ll be totally unexpected. In fact, learning Jane’s true identity shocked Jaimie. She teases us that she’s never filmed anything like she filmed for the Season 2 premiere.

How would you describe Jane and Weller’s relationship? Is there any hope for us Jeller shippers?

Jaimie says that Jane cares about Weller so much. She also admits that she and Sully totally play on the Jeller connection because it pulls at the audience’s heart-strings. (TRUFAX!) Yet, by the end of Season 1, these are in a horrible place. Season 2 will explore this even more, but it’s going to take time for Jane and Weller to get past the betrayal… it will be a rollercoaster for all characters involved.

You have been such a major part of the rise of badass, female characters in TV/film (Lady Sif in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, now Jane Doe). How does that feel?

Jaimie says it feels great to see more and more strong, but vulnerable female characters, and that it’s been a long time coming. The fact that Blindspot is part of encouraging women and men of all ages is the best thing Jaimie takes away from the show.

We love you so much Jaimie! And if the big reveal of Jane’s identity shocked her, then I *cannot* wait to see how it all unfolds.
