Get ready for the upcoming NETFLIX/Marvel TV series Luke Cage with the first trailer and new photo stills!

I know I’m *super* late to the party, but this past weekend, I binged Marvel’s Jessica Jones and it was marvelous (pun intented 😉 ).
Over the last year, I’ve heard a lot about this series. I’m a big fan of Daredevil, so I’m familiar with the tone of Marvel/NETFLIX collaborations. It’s not that I was avoiding Jessica Jones, per se, but it wasn’t on my list of shows to watch.
However, this changed after Comic-Con.
T.J. had a chance to chat with the cast and creators of Luke Cage and she has beens so excited about the series… which made ME excited, too.
Knowing that Luke is a pretty significant presence in Jessica Jones, this seemed like a good a time as any to watch the series.
Plus I found out that the show’s creator is Melissa Rosenberg, AKA the screenwriter of the Twilight Saga movies. (Everything always comes back to Twilight for me, LOL.)

I started watching Jessica Jones and could not stop! You might have seen my tweets cursing those who didn’t tell me how AMAZEBALLS the show is.
Of course Jessica’s snark is hilarious, but I really admire her struggle to embrace her inner-hero, despite losing faith in the world around her.
Can we talk about David Tennant as Kilgrave, because O.M.G. His casual depravity… his obsession with Jessica… WOWSA!
Of course I really like Jessica’s BFF Trish, but the highlight for me is Luke… LUKE!!!
Luke Cage is FINE. Luke Cage is principled. Luke Cage just might be the love of my life.
I finished with Jessica Jones (took me about 24 hours), but now I’m all *grabby hands* for Luke Cage.
The series debuts on NETFLIX next month, but thankfully, yesterday we got a first look via the trailer.
It looks like this series picks up after the events of Jessica Jones, but involves major backstory on how Luke gets his abilities.
Like Jessica, Luke seems to shun the call to being a hero, but in time, he totally steps up to the plate and comes to Harlem’s aid:
“You have my word, ma’am: I’ve got you.” *FLAILS*
Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes (Mahershala Ali) literally won’t know what hit him!
Also, it looks like Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) is bringing her superhero-nursing skills to Luke Cage as well.
And OHITHERE Theo Rossi (Shades), AKA Juice from Sons of Anarchy!
What do you think of the trailer?
Take a look at eight photo stills and two additional teasers from SDCC. Remember Luke Cage premieres on Friday, September 30!
After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury. (via NETFLIX)
