‘Aladdin’ is Coming to ‘Once Upon a Time’ Season 6

Oncers, it’s been a long, long summer, but now that it’s August, we can officially say that Once Upon a Time‘s sixth season will premiere next month (Sunday September 25 at 8:00pm).

OUaT’s showrunners Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz have already teased a new format for the upcoming season. Instead of splitting the season into two with two separate villains and story arcs, Season 6 will focus on small town stories and smaller arcs, using all 22 episodes to explore our fave (and not so fave) characters.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Horowitz spoke about the change:

“That’s actually providing the opportunity to look at our characters in a different way. What’s really exciting about it is, for season 6, really being in Storybrooke again. As we hinted in the finale last year, in seeing the Evil Queen [Lana Parrilla] split, it’s allowing us to do that for a lot of our characters—not as literally—but it’s turning inward on a lot of these characters that we’ve been with for five seasons so far.”

With Jack Hyde in town (thanks for Rumple’s shenanigans/attempts to wake Belle), we can expect to learn more about the Land of Untold Stories.

And with the Regina/Evil Queen split (so reminiscent of the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde story), it’s going to be insane to watch these two battle it out.

But I do hope there will be room for some romance… I mean, I wouldn’t mind a CaptainSwan wedding and maybe even a CaptainSwan baby!

At this year’s Comic-Con, Yvette Nicole Brown hosted the OUaT panel with Jennifer Morrison, Colin O’Donoghue, Jared Gilmore, Rebecca Mader, Emilie de Ravin, Josh Dallas, Lana Parrilla, and EPs Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz.

The conversation included TWO sneak peeks of Season 6, which we have below to share.

First, in the Season 6 teaser, we see Regina’s evolution through the series so far, the good and the not so good. And now that we know the Evil Queen is still alive, evil reigns once more…

We also learned that the new season will take us to Agrabah, with Aladdin, Jafar, and Jasmine joining the show!

Watch the first three minutes of the Season 6 premiere episode “The Savior”, which sets up the storyline that takes place several years after the Disney story we’re familiar with:

*FLAILS* I love Aladdin so, so much!

But wait a minute: Aladdin was a Savior? He isn’t looking so good. And what’s this about Saviors not getting their happy endings? What does this mean for Emma?!

As you see in the video, Deniz Akdeniz plays Aladdin, while Oded Fehr plays Jafar. At Comic-Con, we also found out that Princess Jasmine will be played by Karen David from Galavant.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Season 6 will include both new and familiar faces.

Giles Matthey has been cast as Morpheus, and the Count of Monte Cristo will be played by Craig Horner.

We also know that David Anders (Dr. Whale/Victor Frankenstein), Jessy Schram (Cinderella), and Raphael Sbarge (Dr. Hopper) will reprise their respective roles.

What are you most looking forward to in the next season of Once Upon a Time? Share your thoughts in comments!
