PREVIEW: ‘Outlander’ Season 2, Episode 6 “Best Laid Schemes…”

May 11, 2016 By Funmbi Leave a Comment

Operation Stop Culloden continues, yet Jamie and Claire are still at an impasse… Get a sneak peek of this week’s Outlander (“Best Laid Schemes”), airing Saturday, May 14 at 9:00pm ET|PT on STARZ.

Sassenachs, we need to talk because last week’s Outlander still has me discombobulated! Even though I’ve read Dragonfly in Amber, even though I knew what to expect, “Untimely Resurrection” completely blew me away, mostly because of Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe (#EmmysForOutlander).

That final scene between Jamie and Claire… he was so baffled that she could ever think of denying him revenge for what Black Jack Randall did. I think Jamie was shocked and really hurt. At the same time, Claire was determined to ensure Frank’s life, perhaps in honor of the love that they once shared, perhaps because any disturbance to the timeline would eventually impinge on her traveling back in time and meeting Jamie. In any event, Jamie and Claire were at odds, and while we got a resolution (Jamie agreeing to wait a year before killing BJR), it was a very tenuous, indeed.

How do Jamie and Claire move on from this impasse? They’re about to be parents for goodness sakes!
Can Operation Stop Culloden still continue, as is (particularly the plan to sabotage Le Comte St. Germain and Prince Charles’ wine shipment)?

In this week’s Outlander, Jamie and Claire must balance impending parenthood with political manipulations and emotional decisions. “Best Laid Schemes…” was written by Matthew B. Roberts and directed by Metin Hüseyin:

Jamie and Claire use Claire’s medical knowledge to devise a scheme to stop a wine deal which could fill the Prince’s war chest. When Claire learns Jamie has gone back on his word, the couple are met with dire consequences that will forever change their lives. (via STARZ)

So it does look like Claire’s plan to fake a smallpox outbreak will continue, but what’s this about Jamie going back on his word? And dire consequences?! I CANNOT.

Watch this clip from the upcoming show featuring a very interesting conversation between Claire and Murtagh… it seems the time has come to reveal the full truth behind Claire’s (seeming) ability to predict the future:

I can’t imagine this burden Claire carries… to know the outcome of history and then bear the responsibility of trying to change the course of events in order to protect those you love. Murtagh is in awe, and I am too.

Check out 15 images from “Best Laid Schemes…” and remember to watch the new Outlander when it airs this Saturday, May 14 at 9:00pm ET|PT on STARZ. Tune in and come live tweet with @WeSoNerdy!
