Forever PUCKED by Helena Hunting
Funmbi’s rating: 4 of 5 stars
Helena Hunting’s PUCKED series PWNS me (yes, the misspelling is intended…it’s *that* serious). Her brand of humor, coupled with the hottest sexy times, is enough to have me cackling and swooning all at once. While I read and enjoyed the other books in the series (Pucked Up, Pucked Over), Alex and Violet will always be my faves. Seriously, NO ONE is as wacky as Vi, nothing is as hilarious as her epic word vomit episodes, and then theres Alex/Super MC… So when Helena shared that we’d be getting another story featuring these two, I was beyond ready to have this story in my eyes!
Forever PUCKED has Helena’s signature quirk and sexiness, but there’s an added dimension of drama, especially as Alex and Violet (along with Miller, Sunny, Randy, Lily, Darren, and Charlene) go through some pretty serious events. Truth be told, this makes the story even more gratifying! All in all, we get to enjoy some sweet romance, Beaver + Super MC shenanigans, and great friendship/family moments.
The story picks up with Violet and Alex celebrating their “First Real Date Sexiversary”. They’re very much in love, but conversations about the wedding have come to a stand-still. (Remember Vi breaking out in hives at their engagement party in Pucked Over?)
However, conflict arises when Violet’s work life starts to pick up steam. She’s determined to expand her role of the financial management firm. But Alex is concerned about the future. With him on the road, he and Vi already spend so little time together. If she quits her job, Alex has more than enough to take care of them, especially when they start having kids. Plus having his family life secure makes it easier for Alex to think about his post-hockey life. Needless to say, Violet isn’t at all enthused about being a lady of leisure.
But when Alex suffers a huge accident, it not only jeopardizes his health and career, but also threatens the life he and Violet have been working towards.
For me, one of the best things about the PUCKED series in the swooniness (and ridiculousness) of Violet and Alex’s relationship. From the moment they bond over their shared love of literature (and when Beaver first meets Super MC), we’ve watched these two negotiate Alex’s fame, intervention from family, and Vi’s misapprehensions.
In Forever PUCKED, Violet and Alex’s relationship grows by leaps and bounds. The passion is still there, but the bond between them deepens. And given the drama these two must overcome, what emerges is a stronger version of their love:
“I want all the things with you, Alex. I want the tears and the laughter, but more laughter than tears. I want the downs so I can appreciate the ups even more. I will try to be the best version of me, so I deserve the best version of you…”
“I’m so happy. I’m so in love with this man. And lucky me, he’s equally as in love with me. I feel it in every touch, every glance, every whispered–and groaned–declaration. It’s amazing how a poorly thought-out one-night stand can turn into a forever kind of love…”
*SWOONY SIGH*
But, make no mistake, the crazy kookiness is still there:
“Listen to me, Violet. You and me, we’re meant for each other. Do you agree?”
“Well, yeah, of course. The Super MC and my beave are soulmates, so logically that means the rest of our bodies are soulmates too.”I laugh because this is one of the many reasons I love her. There is no one else in the world who compares to Violet.
“And soulmates are forever, right?”
She nods.“So that means I’m yours, and you’re mine… I’m going to spend the rest of my life loving you, Violet Hall.”
She smiles. “And my boobs—don’t forget them.”
PLUS, we finally get to find out what really happened at Sidney and Skye’s wedding/reception to give Violet wedding-phobia. (It’s mortifying and so perfectly Vi.)
And even better, we experience similar milestones for the other PUCKED characters we’ve come to know and love.
Forever PUCKED is MUSTREAD, especially if you’ve been enjoying the series so far. It’s a lively, fulfilling close to this wacky Beaver + Super MC ride!

There are some books and series that sorta feel like coming home. The characters are familiar and you feel safe in their universe because you trust the author. Forever PUCKED is this way and was a great conclusion to the series.
I love when books end on a good note, but this is the book that shows us what happens past that point for all our couples. We still have Violet who is completely over the top and crazy, but somehow Alex still manages to ground her. It’s really great to read their interactions and see how they’ve grown as a couple.
Then there’s Sunny and Miller. They’re still adorable, and seeing them grow up in this book made it so interesting to me. They’ve always been a little out there, too, but Sunny comes into her own in this book, and I’m glad that we get to see that.
Lily and Randy haven’t changed at all and are still my favorite couple! They’re in a permanent newlywed phase where they just can’t get enough of each other, and I don’t think it will ever change between because it’s their personalities.
All-in-all, this book was about bringing the group together in their couple form and show us what happens after the happily ever after of their own novels. Sometimes it’s not smooth sailing, but that doesn’t change the fact that every one of these couples is committed to their relationship. It’s a true portrayal of the ups, downs, and in-betweens of three relationships that are quirky and can be just plain embarrassing sometimes.
The epilogue was lovely because it brings us back to that safe, familiar place. It gives us the HEA after the first one. I love the idea that there’s not just one moment of completion and the rest of it bleeds into everything else, but life is made up of many moments that can all be defined as happily ever after moments.
