COVER REVEAL: 'The Revenger' by Debra Anastasia

Debra Anastasia shares the new cover and teasers from her upcoming suspense novel The Revenger, coming February 22.

I may be a huge fan of romantic stories, but I’m always on the look-out for a potentially unconventional novel. Friends, I’m pretty sure The Revenger by Debra Anastasia will be that story!

Upon signing up for this cover reveal, I received an email from Debra linking me to a very heartfelt post that shared some of her motivation behind writing this book. There were a couple things that caught my attention right off the bat:

…I have no expectations for the book. It’s dark. It’s scary. It’s, I think, a lot of people’s nightmares…
…I wrote it from the anger I had as a mom. Which is a crazy place to write from. And I keep thinking, who would even want to read it? But then it occurred to me that I’m not alone. That I bet there are other ladies that have known this feeling. That would do anything for their kids, for the people they love and they are scary. Maybe the scariest thing on the face of the earth is a mom ready to defend her family…

I don’t have children, but I can 100% put myself in this mindspace. Even as I write this post, I feel that visceral fire in my tummy, my willingness to do absolutely anything to protect the people I love.

And thinking about a main character who will go to the ends of the earth for vengeance against those who have hurt her family… well that’s a story I am excited about.

Excerpt #1

“What the hell are you?”

He searched frantically for the door latch, his panic making him oblivious to the open top of the Jeep above him.
He didn’t deserve an answer, and he wouldn’t get one. Only in her head would she respond.
She pulled him from the backseat and held him aloft, thinking, I’m a mom without a reason. I’m a person without a life. I’m dead with no escape.

Excerpt #2

There was very little chatter after the alarming phone call.
Savvy looked at the clock. It was only five, but the extra help Tallow had enlisted acted like she was about to disintegrate. When they were finally done, they hung Savvy’s costume from a door, fully expecting her to drop trou in front of all the strangers.
She looked at the silver outfit meant to demean her and classify her as his, just like all his other favorites.

“Yeah, I’m not actually going to be wearing that.” She looked from one shocked person to the other.
Tallow recovered first.
“But this is what he told you to wear!”
Savvy laughed hollowly.
“Yeah, he can suck his own d*ck for all I care.”

The atmosphere changed. The others now realized Savvy didn’t think it was a huge honor to be a f*ckhole.
“That’s not acceptable. I’ll put you in it myself if I have to, but you’re leaving here in that outfit.”
Tallow bravely gathered up the skirt and came into Savvy’s personal space. He obviously thought she was just a regular girl.
In an instant she’d lifted Tallow into the air by his neck.

“I’m not wearing it.”
She stared him down until he began to turn blue. Then she set him back on his feet.
Tallow was a quick learner and smoothed his fancy shirt.
“Okay then, let me see what else we have.”

See what I mean?! I’ve skimmed some of the reviews on Goodreads and I can already feel the angst and suspense in my bones. The Revenger is a novel we won’t want to miss!
