Super Bowl Teaser Trailer: ‘Captain America: Civil War’

February 14, 2016 By Katie Leave a Comment

Marvel releases a new teaser trailer for Captain America: Civil War that opens May 6, 2016.

I. AM. NOT. PREPARED.

Check out the Civil War Super Bowl TV spot below and maybe you’ll understand why.

As if the chanting throughout the trailer wasn’t enough, we know for sure that “United we stand. Divided we fall.” is going to be a huge theme in this addition to the Marvel universe and will set the tone (possibly?) for all future films.

Steve Rogers is being labeled a vigilante, and we can only assume it has something to do with the fact he’s helping his childhood friend, Bucky, escape government custody. The Bucky we see seems to have recovered some of his memory and stopped being all Winter Soldier-y, but Cap isn’t ready to let his childhood friend pay for crimes that he committed while being manipulated by Hydra.

The trailer also give us the breakdown of who is siding with who. Scarlet Witch, Ant Man, Falcon, and Hawkeye stand with Cap and the Winter Soldier while Black Widow, War Machine, Black Panther and Vision are siding with Iron Man.

I don’t know about you but I’m starting to get worried here. Not only are we splitting the Avengers, we’re seeing Hawkeye at odds with Black Widow. These two have a deep history, and I don’t know how well that’s going to pan out.

I’m not sure how to prepare for May. What do the events of Civil War mean for Captain America and Iron Man or the Avengers as a whole? It’s obvious there will be some losses, probably on both sides, and for devote Marvel fans this film is going to prove to be a hard one to get through.

Tell me something, did your heart clench seeing Captain America and the Winter Soldier fighting Iron Man? Mine sure did.
