Earlier this week, Entertainment Weekly made the exclusive announcement that The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 is coming to Digital
HD on March 8, with the Blu-ray Combo Pack + Digital HD, DVD + Digital, and OnDemand releases later in the month on March 22. We also learned that The Hunger Games Complete 4-Film Collection will also be available on Digital HD March 8, then Blu-ray/DVD on March 22 as well.
Thanks to our friends at Lionsgate, we’ve got the full details for both home entertainment releases to share, plus a first look at the cover art!
The Mockingjay Part 2 Blu-ray has over five hours of special features, which includes the 8-part documentary “Pawns No More: Making The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2”. These featurettes take us behind-the-scenes and gives fans an detailed look at the film’s production. This means everything from set-design, costumes, hair/make-up, special effects, and more.
The documentary also includes A Different World, where the cast reflects on their experience over the entire series.
The Hunger Games Complete 4-Film Collection, combines The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2 together as a set for the first time. The collection will have all of the special features from each film’s initial release. In addition, it will have hours of all-new exclusive content, like 13 never-before-seen deleted scenes from THG and Catching Fire and two brand-new featurettes, “Picturing Panem” and “Capitol Cuisine”.

I know this is really bitter-sweet for us. It’s going to be AMAZING to finally have all four films together in our blu-ray/DVD collections. Plus, we can have full THG marathons whenever we want! However, it does feel like the end of an era. Even now thinking about the final line in Mockingjay Part 2 (book and film, “But there are much worse games to play…”) reminds me how incredible and poignant this story is. We’ll certainly never forget it.
