George Clooney & Julia Roberts Reunite in ‘Money Monster’

January 23, 2016 By Funmbi Leave a Comment

In the new financial thriller Money Monster, a hostage situation takes a turn when a huge Wall Street conspiracy is uncovered.

George Clooney and Julia Roberts might be together again, but their new project is nothing like the Ocean’s Eleven shenanigans. In Money Monster, the world watches as a man takes out his anger at Wall Street on live television, potentially revealing a massive scam.

In the taut and tense thriller Money Monster, Lee Gates (Clooney) is a bombastic TV personality whose popular financial network show has made him the money wiz of Wall Street. But after he hawks a high tech stock that mysteriously crashes, an irate investor (Jack O’Connell) takes Gates, his crew, and his ace producer Patty Fenn (Roberts) hostage live on air. Unfolding in real time, Gates and Fenn must find a way to keep themselves alive while simultaneously uncovering the truth behind a tangle of big money lies.

Academy Award-winner Jodie Foster directs the star studded cast, which includes other familiar faces, like Outlanders’ Caitriona Balfe and Giancarlo Esposito (Once Upon a Time, Breaking Bad). Watch the the suspenseful trailer below:

How interesting to see that Lee might end up being on the side of his captor!

Money Monster arrives in theaters on May 13, 2016, and thanks to TriStar Pictures/Sony Pictures, we have three images from the film to share.
