Get your first look at Showtime’s Michael Jackson’s Journey from Motown to Off the Wall documentary directed by Spike Lee.
On Friday, February 5, 2016, at 9 PM ET/PT Showtime will bring Oscar nominee Spike Lee’s latest documentary Michael Jackson’s Journey from Motown to Off the Wall across all of its platforms, and now we bring you the first look into what should be a genius production. Spike Lee’s documentary will focus on Michael Jackson’s life before he was known across the world as the ‘King of Pop’. We will see how MJ’s career evolved and how he further changed the face of music with his record Off the Wall.
In 1979, Michael Jackson took the universe by storm and began his rise as a global megastar when his album Off the Wall was released. Tracks like “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough” (his first single to hit No. 1 as a solo artist and earned him his first Grammy Award), “Rock with You”, “Off the Wall”, and “She’s Out of My Life” are still popular 35 years later. Now through Michael Jackson’s Journey from Motown to Off the Wall director/producer Spike Lee and fellow producers John Branca and John McClain, provide us a film that will delve into Michael’s life as he went from the group The Jacksons to a solo artist with CBS Records.
Michael Jackson’s Journey from Motown to Off the Wall is “an illuminating portrait on how an earnest, passionate, hard-working young man becomes the ‘King of Pop.'” With the release of the below first clip we witness rare concert footage of Michael Jackson performing and get insights from performers Questlove and The Weeknd, along with actor/poet Lemon Andersen on how Michael Jackson and the song he wrote “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough” impacted them.
