FOUR New BTS Featurettes with ‘The Hateful Eight’ Cast & Creators

December 29, 2015 By Funmbi Leave a Comment

The Weinstein Company expands this week’s The Hateful Eight theatrical release. Also, watch four new BTS featurettes and pre-order your tickets today.

Since opening on Christmas Day for its limited Ultra Panavision 70mm Roadshow release, The Hateful Eight has grossed an impressive $5.66M at the U.S. box office to date (100 screens in 44 cities).

Though the film is set for it’s nationwide digital theatrical release this week, The Weinstein Company (TWC) announced that they’re expanding to approximately 1,958 screens in digital theatrical release tomorrow (Wednesday, December 30) with pre-shows starting tonight (Tuesday, December 29)!

For ticketing information, head to http://tickets.thehatefuleight.com to find out where you can see The Hateful Eight (in 70mm and/or wide release) at a theater near you!

In the mean time, thanks to TWC, we have FOUR behind-the-scenes featurettes to share.

The first video gives us a look at the character of Major Marquis Warren, played by Samuel L. Jackson, an ex-slave who fought as a cavalryman in the U.S. Civil War and is now a Bounty Hunter. We also learn more about the long-standing relationship between Jackson and Quentin Tarantino.

In the second featurette, Tarantino and director Paul Thomas Anderson (There Will be Blood) sit down with Pete Hammond from Deadline.com to discuss The Hateful Eight and the glories of 70mm film.

The third video is a featurette where cast and creators talk about Tarantino as a filmmaker and how The Hateful Eight pays homage to the heyday of cinema.

Finally, in the last clip, we learn about Jennifer Jason Leigh and her character, Daisy Domergue, the Prisoner.

In THE HATEFUL EIGHT, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Kurt Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Samuel L. Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Walton Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie’s Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces. Bob (Demian Bichir), who’s taking care of Minnie’s while she’s visiting her mother, is holed up with Oswaldo Mobray (Tim Roth), the hangman of Red Rock, cow-puncher Joe Gage (Michael Madsen), and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Bruce Dern). As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all…
