VIDEO: ‘A Salute to Downton Abbey’ Gives Sneak Peek of Final Season

December 14, 2015 By Funmbi Leave a Comment

In a new PBS Masterpiece special A Salute to Downton Abbey, host Hugh Bonneville (Lord Grantham) recalls the high points from storylines of the past five seasons and gives fans extended sneak peeks of Season 6.

This is really bittersweet because, in the U.S., we’re just weeks away from the new season of Downton Abbey. However, this also happens to be the final season, and I’m really not ready to say goodbye!

Cast-members have already been making their rounds in the American press, doing interviews with The View, Stephen Colbert on The Late Show (where Michelle Dockery, Hugh Bonneville and Allen Leech perform a scene with American accents!!!), Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, and more.

In addition, PBS Masterpiece has a special treat for Downton fans with the special program A Salute to Downton Abbey!  Check out the show’s full synopsis below:

As the top-rated PBS drama of all time approaches its sixth and final season in January 2016, join host Hugh Bonneville, who portrays Robert, Earl of Grantham, to look back on this remarkable series and its beloved characters.

A Salute to Downton Abbey gives a tantalizing glimpse of what the climactic nine episodes in Season 6 will bring. Where will fate, passion, ambition and duty lead television’s cherished characters?

Featuring interviews with writer and creator Julian Fellowes, executive producer Gareth Neame and the cast of Downton Abbey, A Salute to Downton Abbey includes favorite scenes and behind-the-scenes footage from both above and below stairs.

Host Hugh Bonneville recalls the high points from storylines of the past five seasons, and with his characteristic charm and wit, helps answer the following burning questions:

Will Lady Mary finally find another true love?
Will Bates and Anna find happiness?
How will Lady Edith and Marigold fit in at Downton?
Will the wedding of Carson and Mrs. Hughes be the joyful celebration we all hope for?
What twists and turns are in store for the Crawleys as the final season unfolds?

Thanks to PBS, we have the full program to share. Watch it now:

Remember that Downton Abbey‘s final season premieres on Sunday, January 3, 2016 on PBS Masterpiece (Episode 1). The remainder of the episodes will air as followed:
