VIDEO/PHOTOS: Preview ‘The Originals’ Season 3, Episode 2 “You Hung the Moon”

October 15, 2015 By Funmbi Leave a Comment

As Davina reveals her plans, Elijah and Jackson search the city for Hayley. Preview tonight’s The Originals, airing at 9:00pm ET|PT on The CW.

In last week’s premiere of The Originals, the Mikaelson family was deeply divided and a new player arrived in NOLA to take advantage.

“For the Next Millennium” began by taking us back 1,000 years ago the Original siblings (including Finn and Kol!) running away from Mikael. They were new vampires, less refined, and unpracticed in controlling their hunger, but Klaus and Elijah were adamant they stay together, always and forever. One day while feeding they came across Lucien (guest star Andrew Lees), who agreed to help teach the Mikaelsons how live as nobles in the new land. Lucien was very helpful, teaching them how to dress, speak, and dance. What would Lucien get out of this? He viewed his lord (the Count) as wicked and didn’t care if the lot of them died. Klaus actually took a liking to Aurora, the Count’s daughter.

In the present, Freya wrote to Rebekah, asking for advice on how to bring reconciliation between Klaus and Elijah. Klaus would never apologize for bringing the Crescent Curse upon Hayley (after all, he was justified since Hayley tried to take Hope away); yet, in all honesty, Elijah would probably never forgive his brother. Unfortunately, the hope for a sure wasn’t in sight (especially since Davina refused to help).

Elijah spent his time with Marcel in the new vampire community (which had turned into a sort of fight club). He also took joy in reuniting Baby Hope and Hayley during the full moon. Things became complicated when Elijah learned that the land where the wolves lived had been purchased by developers and poachers arrived to kill of the wolves. Elijah broke the traps and killed several of the poachers.

As for Klaus, he hosted an art show for his own work and his old friend Lucien crashed the party. They drank, reminisced (apparently Lucien and Aurora had been together for awhile, but parted ways). He also brought an important message. There was a war brewing between the sire lines. When Finn and Kol died, each vampire they created also died. The remaining three sire lines were in conflict and Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah needed to watch themselves. To assert his point, Lucien brought Klaus to his forecaster, and when Klaus drank her blood, he saw into her mind: “nothing lasts for always and forever…[and] in one years time, you’ll all be lost”. YIKES! Lucien assured Klaus that they could count on each other.

Elsewhere, Camille had her degree and had opened her own practice. Klaus was a dedicated client, though she tried to set up boundaries and keep their relationship professional. Cami and Vincent were asked to become a consultant with the police. Detective Will Kinney (guest star Jason Dohring) was investigating a string of vicious murders in the Quarter and needed help profiling the culprit. A vampire was definitely involved, but Marcel and Klaus knew nothing about it. Maybe it was Lucien…? (In one of the final scenes, he cut his mouth in a way similar to how the dead bodies were cut; in another final scene we saw Aurora in some sort of temple, reading a letter, getting upset, and literally killing the messenger!)

As for Davina, she was having difficulty as Regent. The witches still saw her as a vampire sympathizer and chose not to respect her various decisions (like expanding into vampire territory). One witch Cara openly rebelled and attacked her. Marcel encouraged Davina to reassert herself with force. How did Davina plan to achieve that? Well, whatever the plan was, it included Hayley, who she now held captive.

In tonight’s episode “You Hung the Moon” written by Carina Adly Mackenzie and directed by Jeffrey Hunt:

IMPENDING THREATS AND A DIRE PROPHECY—After discovering that poachers have begun taking out werewolves in the bayou, Elijah and Jackson grow concerned for Hayley’s safety when she fails to show up during the full moon. Meanwhile, Davina,  the only one with the answer to Hayley’s whereabouts, plots ways to use that to her advantage. Elsewhere, Cami approaches Klaus with her theory on who is behind the series of murders in the French Quarter, while Lucien delivers to Elijah an unsettling warning about the war brewing among the sire lines. Finally, after receiving a dire prophecy about the future of the Mikaelson siblings, Klaus takes extreme measures to determine the validity of this potential impending threat. (via The CW)

What in the world does Davina plan to do with Hayley? And I wonder if Klaus *really* trusts Lucien? I think we can already see that Lucien has ulterior motives…I just hope Klaus doesn’t let his anger at his siblings cloud his judgement. This war between the sire lines has the potential to get dangerous for our Mikaelson vamps!

Julie Plec and Michael Narducci preview the upcoming episode for us: Davina is essentially controlling Hayley’s humanity, but to what end? Well, Davina has a specific task in mind and if Hayley wants to stay in her human form, she has to play ball. Lucien will also go to Elijah with the news of the war between the sire lines. Elijah isn’t so worried, after all, the white oak stake has been destroyed. And really, how much of what Lucien says can we trust?

That’s a pretty serious warning about the upcoming danger!

Check out this clip from “You Hung the Moon” where we see Jackson and Elijah accuse Klaus of kidnapping Hayley…and apparently, Klaus *does* have something to do with the poachers that are killing werewolves:

NIKLAUS! *sigh* I just don’t have the words anymore. Well, he loves Baby Hope, but his choices can be so terrible. We know it’s Davina who’s responsible for taking Hayley captive, but the idea that Klaus would sic poachers on the wolves when they’re most defenseless is horrifying. At least we can count on Elijah!

Do you think Hayley will be able to satisfy Davina’s demands? And what do you think is Lucien’s real role in the sire line wars?

Take a look at five images from tonight’s episode and make sure to tune into The CW at 9:00pm ET|PT for the new The Originals. Remember to come live tweet with us while we watch.
