Annalise finally comes face-to-face with Nate’s wife, and the encounter isn’t what you’d expect. Watch a sneak peek of tonight’s How to Get Away with Murder, airing at 10:00pm ET|PT on ABC.
Last week’s episode of How to Get Away with Murder was all about sex and mostly about when it goes wrong!
“It’s Called the Octopus” began at the Hapstall mansion the night Annalise is shot. The Keating 5 (minus Asher) fled the scene, and as Annalise lay inside dying, her phone rang. Nate was calling (he was also driving somewhere), but Annalise didn’t have the strength to pick the call. Nate left a message begging her to call back and tell him she was OK. But obviously Annalise wasn’t.
Flashing back to the present (seven weeks earlier), Annalise was at home working late. She recorded her notes on the Hapstall case, speculating why the siblings might have killed their parents. Annalise considered various motives, while leaving audio-notes for Frank and Bonnie on what to research. Eventually Annalise passed out drunk in bed, but was woken up by a loud thumping noise downstairs. When she got to the basement, Annalise saw something that made her gasp…another dead body? Yes…but not a human body. She ended up calling Wes to come help her get rid of a mouse. (Why would Annalise call Wes? Why would Wes actually come?)
The next morning in class, Annalise lectured on how sex drove most criminal behavior. This was in line with their newest case, a woman who owned a holistic “sexual healing” center (Utopia Circle). Tanya was charged with involuntary manslaughter for accidentally killing a client (Dominic) during rough, tantric sex (he died of a heart-attack). Annalise forged the name of a police sergeant’s daughter to the Utopia Circle guest ledger, and in return for keeping the secret, the sergeant agreed to give Nate a job.
The Keating 5 tried to reach out to the other members of Tanya’s center, but no one wanted to come forward and identify themselves as clients. That evening, Connor and Michaela attended a sex party where they learned Tanya purposely manipulated circumstances to to have sex with Dominic that night. She had fallen in love with him, but Dominic refused to leave his wife (Cynthia) and family. At the party the night he died, Tanya gave him nitroglycerin before sex, and mixed with the viagra Dominic took, led to the heart-attack. She really hadn’t meant for him to die…Tanya only wanted Dominic’s secret life exposed to Cynthia so she would leave him. Annalise was totally disgusted with Tanya’s selfishness, but still defended her. At trial the next day, Annalise accused Cynthia of killing Dominic by purposefully giving him nitroglycerin after learning he was taking viagra (and likely cheating). Tanya was acquitted of all charges, but despised what Annalise did.
Elsewhere, the Hapstall case was heating up again. This time, there were tabloid accusations that Caleb and Catherine were lovers (“sibcest”). Was this why they killed their parents? But the Hapstall siblings denied any sexual relationship.
Asher’s relationship with Bonnie was strained…mostly because he was having difficulty figuring out how to deal with Ms. Sinclair. The night that Annalise heard noises in the house it was actually Asher breaking in to steal her recorder. He gave it to Ms. Sinclair who used the information to leak a fabricated story about the Hapstalls being lovers. Asher said he was done giving her information, but Ms. Sinclair threatened him with “Trotter Lake”. Asher eventually broke up with Bonnie and went to go see his dad for help (“it’s about Tiffany”).
Wes found out that Michaela was seeing Levi, and confronted him. We learned that Rebecca was “Eggs”, and Levi was her foster brother. He hadn’t heard from Rebecca and believed she was dead. Moreover, Levi believe Annalise did it. Wes and Levi agreed to work together to find the truth, as long as Levi stayed away from Michaela.
Annalise went to go see Nate at home to encourage him to take the job from the police sergeant and to say she missed him. Nate didn’t say he wouldn’t be with Annalise, but he needed more time. After she left, we saw that Wes was at Nate’s place and they agreed to a plan (we weren’t quite sure of the details).
Flashforward to future, Wes, Laurel, Connor, and Michaela had left the Hapstalls’ and were hiding in a ditch. A car stopped where they were hiding and it was Nate! He told them to get in his car and they took off.
In tonight’s episode “Skanks Get Shanked”, written by Angela Robinson and directed by Stephen Williams:
THEY SAY THE TRUTH ALWAYS COMES OUT—When a teenager is found murdered in the woods, Annalise and her team is hired to represent an unlikely suspect named in the case. Meanwhile, Asher comes across a shocking confession, and Wes learns new information about Rebecca’s disappearance. (via ABC)
This clips from the upcoming show is INTENSE. In the first video, Annalise faces her fears and visits Nate’s wife (Enuka Okuma), who is battling cancer, at the hospital. In addition to asking if Annalise truly loves Nate, she also asks for help…she wants Annalise to help kill her! And in the second clip, Annalise arrives home to meet her newest client, a teenager accused of murdering her best friend:
WHOA!
First,Nate’s wife doesn’t seem particularly upset with Annalise; if fact, there looks to be more admiration than resentment between them. Do you think Annalise will actually go through with it? Would Nate ever forgive her for if he found out?
And second, I’m already sideeyeing Zoe…is she saying the two popular girls brainwashed her into killing her BFF?! I don’t know…
Take a look at 12 images from “Skanks Get Shanked” (I CANNOT with this episode title), and remember to tune into ABC at 10:00pm ET|PT for the show!
