Season 3 of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. opened with the hunt for inhumans and closed with Fitz have an emotional break in his inability to find Simmons. Now it’s time for him to convince the others that she isn’t dead.
Two things were missing with the season 3 opener of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) and Agent Malinda May (Ming-Na Wen). However, the world didn’t stop dissolving into chaos and destruction even though our faves were absent. Skye now Daisy (Chloe Bennet) along with Mack (Henry Simmons) and Hunter (Nick Blood) were on the hunt to save inhumans. Little did they know they had to fight off two foes: Lash (Matthew Willig) and new director of Advanced Threat Containment Unit (ATCU), Rosaslind Price (Constance Zimmer).
Confusion is rampant because no one knows who is killing the inhumans, the ATCU is sure it’s SHIELD and vice versa. They were both wrong…Lash is causing the carnage. Now we will find out if ATCU and SHIELD will work together or constantly get in each other’s way. Before all of this we need to find Simmons, and that is the agenda in tonight’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Season 3, Episode 2 “Purpose in the Machine”.
Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and the team enlist the aid of an Asgardian to unlock the secrets of the ancient monolith that swallowed Simmons, and Agent May is at a crossroads in her personal and professional life. (via ABC)
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. “Purpose in the Machine” was written by DJ Doyle and directed by Kevin Tancharoen. And guest stars Blair Underwood as Dr. Andrew Garner, Peter MacNicol as Professor Elliott Randolph, Daz Crawford as Kebo, Spencer Treat Clark as Alexander, Alex Hyde-White as Lord Thornally, Daniel J. Wolfe as Lord Manzini, Piers Stubbs as younger lord, James Hong as William May, and Darius Cottrell as Moe.
Tonight, let’s see with the return of Dr. Garner if Agent May will turn to her ex-husband for guidance as she decides what is next in her life, William May, or both. Ward (Brett Dalton) obviously has been up to something, but will he bring more trouble than he’s worth to the SHIELD team, and what secrets will the monolith reveal.
