FIRST LOOK: Watch ‘iZombie’ Season 2 “State of the Dead” Trailer

October 5, 2015 By Marisol Leave a Comment

DC Comic series iZombie gained a significant amount of exposure last season when Veronica Mars series creator Rob Thomas adapted the show for television. Since debuting last Spring on The CW, iZombie quickly asserted itself as a unique show featuring a quirky mix of different genres. We were instantly hooked and are excited for iZombie’s return to The CW lineup with all-new episodes starting on Tuesday, October 6 at 9/8c.

iZombie is a fairly straightforward show. If you haven’t watched it before, don’t worry about being lost or confused. iZombie’s comic strip style title sequence always reminds the audience about how it all began: girl gets scratched by a zombie, then transforms into a zombie, dumps her fiancé, and starts working in a morgue so she can feed off their steady supply of fresh brains. But as our girl Olivia ‘Liv’ Moore learns, her food is not entirely cruelty free since every brain that she eats causes her to have visions of how the person died. And if the person was murdered, then Liv pairs up with Detective Babineaux to solve the crime.

Ok, so maybe that isn’t as straightforward as we thought. Maybe we should let this synopsis provided by The CW explain iZombie’s first season and preview the second season for you:

Throughout the riveting first season of iZombie, television’s only zom-dram-rom-com, Liv Moore (Rose McIver) learned to embrace her undead life and use her zombie powers for good. As an intrepid, zombified medical examiner, Liv ate the brains of the morgue cadavers and, under the guise of being a psychic, used her visions to assist Detective Clive Babinaux (Malcolm Goodwin) in solving murder cases. While Liv’s boss and sole confidante, Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti (Rahul Kohli), worked on a cure for her unthinkable condition, Liv battled the evil, zombie-making, brain-dealing Blaine (David Anders) and struggled to protect her loved ones and all of Seattle from a potential zombie apocalypse. Standing directly and unwittingly in the path of the oncoming zombie train is Liv’s ex-fiancee Major Lilywhite (Robert Buckley), whose life spiraled out of control when he uncovered the truth behind the rash of disappearances in Seattle – and what was really being served up at Blaine’s butcher shop.
After months of experiments, Ravi comes up with what he thinks could be the cure for zombie-ism. Due to the lack of tainted Utopium, he’s only able to produce one vial of it. When Major faces death as he meets Blaine in a final confrontation, Liv uses half of the cure on Blaine to keep him at bay – and  the other half on Major to save him from becoming the newest member of the undead.
In season two, with Liv’s secret now out, she will face new and even more powerful enemies, and old enemies in surprising new forms.  And with the zombies of Seattle now the ones mysteriously disappearing, Liv and Blaine reluctantly find themselves on the same side. Unlikely alliances will be struck, relationships will be challenged, and the line between good and evil will blur for both zombies and the fully living. (Via The CW)

Yeah, this show definitely has a quirky and off the wall premise, but it also has a lot of heart, snark, and endearing characters. We don’t doubt for a second that iZombie’s second season will continue to keep audiences simultaneously laughing while shedding a tear or two.
