Scandal‘s 5th season kicks of tonight with an all-new episode! Watch two clips from “Heavy is the Head”, airing at 9:00pm ET|PT on ABC.
Fellow Gladiators, Scandal returns for its FIFTH season tonight, and if you’re like me, you’ve been watching (and re-watching AND re-watching) the trailer and feeling all the Olitz/Fitzlivia feelings!
Thanks to ABC, we’ve got the official synopsis and two clips from the premiere episode, “Heavy is the Head” (written by Shonda Rhimes and directed by Tom Verica):
OLIVIA AND FITZ ARE FORCED TO MAKE BIG DECISIONS—Olivia and Fitz are back together again and enjoying every scandalous moment together while Cyrus, Mellie and Huck are all still dealing with the aftermath of helping Command. Meanwhile, when a visit from the Queen of Caldonia and her family turns into a tragedy, Olivia is hired to make sure the Royal family’s private life stays private. (via ABC)
Well, like many of us have been speculating, just because Papa Pope was arrested at the end of last season doesn’t mean he still won’t wield any influence. And despite personal distractions, it looks like OPA will be getting back to work and fixing problems for various political elites…this time a Queen!
Check out these sneak peeks from “Heavy is the Head”. In the first, introduced by Guillermo Diaz and Katie Lowes (Huckleberry Quinn!), former VP Sally Langston is back on her soapbox (AKA The Liberty Report), lambasting POTUS Fitz and calling for his head. Meanwhile, Fitz is not at all concerned because he has his woman back (EEEEEP!). In the second clip, Mellie accuses Lizzie North, who is now Fitz’s Chief of Staff (ADIOS CYRUS), of betrayal. Interestingly, Lizzie gives Senator First Lady a dose of her own medicine.

Second, I’m actually impressed with Lizzie…she has a backbone now! Did you see how she counted down the four reasons she doesn’t own Mellie anything. She sounded like Liv! I’m not particularly fond of Lizzie, but Mellie wasn’t very nice to her last season. It’ll be interesting to see how long Lizzie gets to stick around. Let’s not kid ourselves—Cyrus might be down, but he’s certainly not out of this game. What do you think?
